You make a life/death decision on anonymous people everyday you get into the bus, you cross the street, you order something from a restaurant, you open a candy bar, the list can go on. Now, if you think the information here by these anonymous people doesn't worth it, what exactly are you doing here reading and replying?

This post exist by friendly people sharing their experience and asking for advice, I thank everyone provided their feedback.

Went to Best Buy and rolled the dice to see if I could get a better unit. More severe yellowing on top, less contrast all around and an hour wasted. Now I'm thinking I may have lucked out with the first. Done with the Kindle swap for now. Debating whether to try one more time with the late November wave of Kindles.

So glad you're happy with your replacement! I have one coming and this gives me real hope.

OTOH your comment about the PW2 concerns me because that's my backup device in case I can't get a good KV. I don't tend to get tired with my PW1, though it irritates me to no end. What light setting do you use? Thanks!

I usually have the PW2 light set at 14. That said, I don't think you'll have any font issues with the PW2 if the PW1 has been working out well. I still like the PW2 well enough that I'm going to keep it (rather than sell it, like I do most gadgets).

Thank you! I am too. I need the clarity that I see. Old eyes and only getting older.

PW1 I usually set my light somewhere around 20 so that helps with the clarity. Font issues, meh - for clarity there, I do tend to need to move it the next room while I read in this one. Farsightedness sucks. I can read in bed okay, but not great so I have to push it very far away when I'm on my side. Sitting up and reading, eye to lap distance or handheld, I'm okay since the distance is greater than when in bed.

My Voyage arrived today in the mail. I was DREADING opening the package... because I knew things would be bad and I'd be disappointed. Not so! I'm happy to say that, while there's a little (tiny) bit of two tone going on, it's very minor and won't bother me at all. (I should probably say that I'm not all that fussy, but it really doesn't look that bad to me! Really! I can't imagine that my screen would bother anybody, except the most discriminating reader.)

I've only been playing with this thing for about an hour, but so far I'm really liking what I'm seeing with the Voyage. A very nice upgrade, from my old Kindle Keyboard.

Thank you Amazon! (I wish everybody could be as fortunate as I was in the Kindle Voyage, Jackpot, Pick Six, Powerball, Lotto... thing.)

I just got my hands on mine. I'm using a Belkin magnetic case. It feels very light compared to the Paperwhite + Amazon case. One thing that seems off to me is the paper turning zones should be higher up on the bezel. I think I'll get used to it but if they placed them in a similar fashion to the Kindle Keyboard I think it would have been better.

I called CS for a replacement, and after some serious back and forth, my replacement will be here on Sat. She kept telling me that the earliest available is 11/27, and she kept telling me to look at the date on their site. Puh-lease, like i wasn't in the same situation last year and the year before that?!

Attached is a picture of the V (left) next to my PW2, to show how horrid my PW2 is - and that's after numerous replacements last year. The V is much better, but really not acceptbale for $200 - if i had a good PW, I would just give up on the V.

I hope you get a perfect one! I'm tempted to call and play the replacement game, but I don't know if I want to go through that again. I cannot remember how many replacements I got before I gave up on the PW1. My first PW2 was okay, just barely, and I kept it for a while before deciding the Nexus 7 and iPad mini Retina both had much sharper and darker text. I do like the text on my Voyager, but the gradual change from very noticeable blue tint to a cloudy cream color is a bit much. I just haven't convinced myself I would get a better one as so many look just like mine. I can read on it, but it could sure be a lot better, especially for $200!

There is something else. An iPad Retina mini starts at $299 this year, so for the Voyage to start at 199 with its imperfect screen is a bit tough to swallow this year, considering this. I have an iPad Air, but just saying.

Plus, the shoddy PP, the same tired 6 fonts and the same exact software just make me wonder if this purchase is justified. :S
I had pretty bad flashbacks talking to the CS rep. I also forgot how many PW1s and 2s I went through, but it wasn't pleasant.

Gah, both your PW2 and KV are really bad, wouldn't be happy with that either. I got really lucky last year and got a very good screen on my PW2 first time so I'm just going to hang on to it and not play lottery this year!
