Hmm, what can I say? It definitely is waterproof too a deep soak in the tub and of course took the H2O with me to read. IT works perfectly in the water. Yes I dunked it and even turned a few pages under the water and the pages turned. Water droplet detection did work as well but I found it to be annoying and eventually turned it off completely. Water temperature was extremely hot as I like to soak in a hot tub. Very impressed and am happy to say its one of the best things KOBO HAS COME UP WITH IN A LONG TIME. I am curious about one thing though, and that will be the replacement of the flap that completes the waterproofing. I can see this becoming broken or disconnected in the near future and potentially lost and wonder what the potential cost or availability of said flap will be.
Overall rating 10/10 Overall satisfaction rating is off the charts. regards Jack |

You're very welcome. (Update: I ordered a second H20 from Chapters on Saturday evening, was surprised to get an email on Sunday saying it had shipped, and received it today--Thursday. So, less than a week.)

Hi
I'm currently considering buying a Kobo H20 (I currently have a kindle paperwhite 1) ,but most of my ebooks are epub - not kepub. I've seen that the Calibre plugin to convert to kepub does not work on the current firmware, so my question is, what do I lose in term of reading experience if I only put epub on the Kobo H2O ? is the layout different ? Thanks |

I definitely prefer kepubs, and I like to have header and footer, with the page numbering per chapter. If I want to know where I am in the full book, I hit center bottom, and get the time (always useful when immersed in a book) and the % read. |

I would sum it up as: the kepub reader supports some extra features, but the epub reader does a better job at actually displaying text on the page: Some extra kepub features such as cloud sync, in-book chapter progress charts, BeyondTheBook (extra content including articles about the author, locations in the story, etc.) only work with kepubs bought from Kobo; others such as popup footnote previews, page header containing the book title, double-tap to zoom images work with sideloaded kepubs too. The epub reader does a better job at displaying embedded fonts, hyphenation, justification, and works better in full-screen mode. Edit: My preference has changed since I first got my Glo. In older firmware versions, perhaps up to version 2.8.1, the kepub reader was better than the epub reader. However since then the epub reader has improved (bugs have been fixed) while the kepub reader has become worse overall (new features added, but also new bugs added that affect basic text layout functions like justification.) "I've seen that the Calibre plugin to convert to kepub does not work on the current firmware"
I missed that if true - is that temporary condition , or a permanent loss ? is there a discussion elsewhere ? I checked the plugin's own specific thread & saw nothing there saying 3.11 broke it ??? is that it does not work on the latest device i.e. the H2o rather than it does not work with the latest firmware - which is now rolling out across all current devices? Yes, I'd like to know where french25 got that from. I don't normally use it, but have in the last few days and it is working correctly here.

My mistake, I've read that in a french forum, I think there was a bad info , guess the poster mixed the fact that the plugins was no longer maintained. Glad to see it's still working.
How reliable are the Kobo firmware ? are they still freezing the device sometime ? Last edited by french25; 10-24-2014 at 08:24 AM. |

I ordered my H2O from Chapters last night along with an Amazon basic sleeve to store the devise in when I'm not using it. So I should be good to go. Hopefully the H2O will show up before the end of next week. I'm looking for to reading on it. Thanks again.
