Davidfor: I will get the calibre debug shortly. The are sideloaded ePub's and calibre generated KePubs. However, further testing of direct Kobo KePubs I am crashing on them as well now.

JSWolf: Yes, it crashes with Kobo KePubs as well. I just tested with "The Illuminatus! Trilogy" by Robert Shea & Robert Anton Wilson. I also just crashed it on "International Human Resource Development" by John P. Wilson (Which admittedly is a first for this book as a direct download and not sideload).

I wonder if you could try some previews of Kobo books; that way others of us could try the exact same material and see what happens.

That's really starting to sound like a hardware issue. It's doesn't appear to be book related at all (since it's happening on almost everything you're testing) and it's not being reported elsewhere (with the amount of books you're having the issue on it doesn't seem like some weird quirk so if it was firmware it would be showing up elsewhere). Factory reset should have fixed a bad load of firmware so I'd be looking at an exchange based on something wonky with the hardware.

Start calibre and then restart in debug mode (right click on the preferences button and select "Restart in debug mode). When calibre has restarted, connect the H2O. When the initial jobs have finished, send a book to the device. Then eject the device and close calibre. When calibre closes, it will display the debug log. Post the log. Or if you prefer, send it to me in a PM or put it somewhere I can download.

I'm not really expecting anything, but I want to check that there are no obvious errors when sending the books.

Do you mean http://store.kobobooks.com/en-US/ebo...tus-trilogy-4? If it is, I have tried it on my Glo with FW3.11.0. There were no problems.

Looking at the stack logs, they are all basically the same. So, it is a consistent error.

The calibre debug log, doesn't tell me anything about the error. It does tell me that the database and other version numbers are what I would expect.

So, I have no idea what is happening. It isn't something that others are seeing. I can only see that it has to be the hardware. If it is, then it is still under warranty, and you should be able to exchange it.

Corruption in where annotations are stored? Are they in both the database and the .adobe directory structure for both ePub and kepub formats?

Davidfor: It being a hardware issue is sad. This was delivered on the 8th. Sad that I already gave my other eReaders away... If I recall Kobo's RMA policy I mail mine to them and then they mail me another one after they get it.

PeterT: I don't think so, Its a fresh DB after every reset. everything gets wiped, I haven't been carrying anything over.

But there is more than just the database. Some data is also stored in the filesystem that you see when the device is attached to your PC.

Wouldn't that be wiped on a factory reset?

Yes but I'm wondering whether this was a true factory reset or just a logout from Kobo account which does not wipe the file system.

I don't think it matters. From Wolfsbruder description, the crash is happening while adjusting the selection. I don't think the database or file system will be involved at that point. That should only happen when saving the highlight.
