The one caveat to the problems I'm experiencing is that if I turn off the PT buttons (and why should I have to, that's why I bought it), I can give it a death grip and hold it. That said, eventually my hand will cramp.

That's exactly my thinking. I was all excited for PT buttons, and am so sick of the accidental page turns or trying to press the wrong place on the bezel, that i am considering just turning them off. Their design and plaecement are a total fail. When we asked to get PT buttons back we meant actual BUTTONS.

I've already ordered my PW2. It will be here Friday. I can't wait to send this turkey back.

My $69 Kindle 4NT from 2012 has better page turn buttons than the brand new $200 Voyage.
Let that sink in for a moment. |

I really need the light. I have adjusted to the touch nicely, but I need that light. My K3 is good, page turn buttons and all. If it had a light I'd be okay, but hardware buttons without glass are a must for me.

Oh, I forgot about the light. Throw that in as well.

Patching for full screen reading on the H20 is very simple. It's the first thing I do.
My picture on post 196 page 14 shows a patched Aura. Only thing is the patch can display cut off letters at the end occasionally, when that happens I just change to another font and it fixes it, then go back to my Charis Modifed Larger font a little latter and it's fine. It's a bit of a quirk. Last edited by Josieb1; 10-23-2014 at 12:13 AM. |

After using the device in different reading conditions I decided the defect is not acceptable. It's noticeable. Period.
Spoke to Amazon (love how they call you in 5 minutes!) and told the representative about the discoloration. She didn't sound surprised. Leads me to believe the reps have been put on alert. Of course she promptly offered to send me a replacement, but it's out of stock (sounded like she knew this already, but went through the motion of checking anyway). Because she can't send a replacement, she issued a refund without me asking. Just like that. Advised me to place an order for another Voyage scheduled to ship end of November, which I did. Received two emails immediately after the call ended. A confirmation of the refund and a return shipping label. Consistently amazing customer service. You get 30 days to return the device, so I'll keep using it for the time being. Perhaps the November ship date will be bumped up. |

Yeah, my Voyage was supposed to arrive Nov 26th, but I canceled it after reading all the problems a lot of people are having here.
My last Kindle was a Kindle 2, so the Paperwhite I just now ordered from Amazon (PW2, right? The 1 isn't being made anymore?) will get here on Friday too. I'm sure the change from the Kindle 2 to the Paperwhite 2 will look amazing to me with no regrets. ![]() |

I jumped from the K3 to the Voyage. I haven't had experience with the backlit kindles before.
Has anyone had problems reading on the Voyage in the dark? Somehow it constantly bothers my eyes, no matter how I adjust the backlight levels. For example my iPod screen seems much easier to read on (if only the backlight wasn't so bright on the iPod). When I'm reading on the Voyage in the dark it seems like the white part of the screen becomes many shades of grey, making the text not stand out as much. Is this a common problem? Am I doing something wrong? |
