Really? I'd love to see a side by side pick of a Sony 5" and the Voyage if anyone has both.

I agree with you. I notice the difference on the third picture. I wish it didn't bother me, because I really like the sharper text. Oh well, I sent mine back today and got a refund. Too many people having the same issue (probably everybody if we count the people that don't notice or don't get bothered) so I didn't want to get a replacement. They'll probably launch an improved voyage next year with even light. YOu would think they learned from the PW1 launch.

I think I'm going to not let myself get so excited in future...

History of William:

1.) See Paperwhite announcement! OMG EXCITE! Such WOW! Much Awesome!

2.) Get Paperwhite and cry about pink/green.

3.) See Paperwhite 2 announcement! OMG! Amazon fixed it!

4.) Get Paperwhite 2 and cry about pink/green.

5.) See Voyage announcement! OMG! Stupendous! Premium reading fancy shiny woot!

6.) Get Voyage and cry about pink/green.

Seriously, are the reviewers that worried they won't be sent devices if they complain about them? How has not a single reviewer mentioned this!

I've often wondered if devices sent to reviewers (and not just by Amazon) are cherry-picked by the manufacturer.

I have both and used both for over one year. If you are talking about under broad daylight, sure, pw2 is much less strain (due to much less reflectivity). In the dark, I actually find nexus 7 is better (when using dark background), and nexus 7 high resolution also helps.

24 is the highest number on the scale for brightness on the Voyage.

I hesitate to post this picture because the quality isn't good enough for a valid comparison. None of the screens look blurry like they are in the picture. I took it with my two year old Samsung phone in a dim room. In real life the letters on the H2O look slightly darker to me but it might just be me.

Left to right --
Aura at 50% brightness
H2O at 26%
Voyage at level 13

Yes I meant indoor reading. I also find the nexus good inside with the darker background. I like a crisp font. The pw2 I had about a week was also good but still holding out for higher resolution screen.

When I looked at the third one sitting comfortably back in my desk chair I thought I could see yellow in the middle of the upper half. However, when I got myself up close to the screen it looked uniform all the way! My eyes must be playing tricks or maybe viewing angle has something to do with it?
