Yep, they obviously don't know how to test their darn designs for new Kindles. They either need engineers who are avid eInk reader fans or they need test groups with us to help them get it right. I personally visualize having their engineers hooked up to electrodes and having us on the other side of a one-way mirror where we can zap the buggers every time they leave out or screw up a key feature.

Seems like a fundamental S/W design flaw.

The buttons should be generating generic forward and backward events. Whatever modules receive those events should not care or know whether they were generated by a tap, swipe, or button press.

Sorry to hear that others are having problems, but my screen looks fantastic. I've looked at it under bright light, natural light, and in no light, and I can't replicate the problems others are seeing.

Can you post a picture so we can see what a fantastic screen looks like? No light, light level 13 - just to get an idea.

After my K3 issues - similar, but different - lots of gaps and cracking noises and I waited to order it until months later, I didn't jump on the PW1 either (waited until 5/2013) and still had to return two and grudgingly kept one. I had hoped that by now they had "resolved" their supplier issues, but apparently their suppliers still haven't improved QC. Really dogging the Kindle rep.

Thank you! Meeeeeee, too! I've always done all my own computer repairs - coming from the dark ages of dual floppies - so even if it's not perfect, as long as it's software and not hardware, I'll try to fix it whichever way I can. It's out there... So hard to focus on any one thing. LOL
