Kobo Glo vs Kobo Touch
I've been looking at Kobo Touches, but I found (on Craigslist) a very nice, well priced Kobo Glo -- so I was wondering, how do the two compare? Is the Glo basically the Touch with front lighting? -- and does the Glo's screen look about like the Touch's when the light is turned off? If you could get a used Glo for about the same price as a used Touch, would you do it?
Thanks for any information. |

I would skip both and go for the Aura but if you must choose one then I would say that the Glo would be better than a pretty outdated Touch.

The Glo has a faster processor and higher resolution, as well as the front light.

Right now I'm looking for an experimental Kobo, to see how well I like the platform. What impresses me about the Kobo is the fine tuning of margins, size of fonts and even font weights. The thing that makes me leery is that the default for Kobos seems to be a line between each paragraph without any indention, which I really don't like -- at least not for fiction. The price and condition of this Glo (if still available) is cheap enough and in good enough condition that, if I decide that a Kobo is not for me, I could easily resell it and come out even (probably more than even). Thanks for the information. |

The Glo has a better screen than the Aura, I've compared both side by side. The 6 inch Aura has the worst lighted screen of any Kobo. I'm seriously thinking of selling mine and getting a Glo.

At any way, thanks. Now I'm really beginning to hope the Glo is still available. I should know tomorrow (later today). EDIT: I re-read the article. I guess they are planning to keep the Auras also. EDIT: After re-re-reading, I see they're going to drop the Glos. Last edited by rcentros; 10-22-2014 at 06:55 AM. |

I have both.
I'd pick the Glo over the Touch anyday. |

You're right, they're dropping the Glo and keeping the Aura (and the H2O). Well, crud, I got myself confused again. I guess they want the same range as Amazon, low-end, middle model and high-end. (Or, I guess, it's the other way around, Kindle wants the same range as Kobo.)

I can confirm that the Glo is a bit smaller than the Touch. And the screen of the Glo, with the light off, still looks fantastic.

Sense they dropped the Mini now the Aura is most compact Kobo reader. This as important for some people as having big high resolution screen.
