will there be any way to disable the "you've finished" page ?
I am not such an idiot that I need to be told that, and not part of the selfie brigade that needs to tell the whole world via facebook about this momentous event,.

when Amazon added this "feature" it was the final straw for me+ kindle, & now Kobo are going the same way

ditto for any "beyond the book". I want reading to be a private, self contained, ad free experience, and I am still capable of deciding what to read next without some software butting in to offer suggestions.

I like the sound of the "You're finished" page, but it doesn't show up for me on a sideloaded Calibre-Kepub. Is it only for "true" kepubs?

cybmole, why the heck should you care? Nobody's forcing you to facebook, or even look at that page. Personally I'd really like to see a summary of my reading stats after I finish a book.

i got told that when I whinged about the Kindle feature. All I can say is that for some reason it really bugs me.

1. I know i've finished - i don't need some dumbed down program to tell me
2. I am not (yet) OCD enough to need to know that a read the book in x hours y minutes z seconds
3. I find insulting both a) the assumption that everyone including me likes facebook and b) that the world needs to know that I've actually FINISHED a book. now I can understand that for some americans that is a BIG DEAL & that ALL of the friends NEED an IMMEDIATE status report update but happily (sadly ? ) I don't have facebook friends & even if I did I doubt they'd care either way. [ my cockatiels have a facebook account, - they are more into social media than I am - but they don't read much ]

just give me the option to disable the feature 7 I'll go quietly

ps, don't let this take over or spoil the main thread, start a new one to tell me I'[m being obsessive if you must, or let's stop here. I'll just keep my aura HD off line & on the older firmware.

And I don't know if this is with Calibre or what... But now, when you eject your Kobo using Calibre, my Glo immediately goes to the processing screen even if I still haven't unplugged it from the USB port...

One of the new features is that it wakes upon eject rather than unplugging.

I just tried direct-downloading a kepub, and got the "You're finished" page, so I guess it is only for direct-downloaded books. Then again, there were no reading stats there? Maybe that's just because I skipped straight to the end. Anybody know?

Well, first tests with known issues about PDFs in 3.8.0 which davidfor didn't mention and which I'm sad to say aren't fixed:

The performance of certain books is just abismal. (Link to original 3.8.0 thread). ottdmk PMed me a book to test but it is copyrighted so it can't be posted here. I haven't found a free document to test.
An another sub-issue: Some pdfs just make the device crash and reboot. Link to a conflictive book: Canon EOS 7D Mark II autofocus guide.
Bad handling of pdfs which contain different page sizes/orientation. It seems the size reference is locked to the first page size, so in the rest of the document you can get cropped pages (in "bigger" pages) or huge white areas (in "smaller" pages). (Link to original thread).

More over Web Browser is somehow broken again. Good web-page to test: THIS ONE

The font has been changed and because of its size these forums don't fit in the available horizontal space. They are WIDER than the screen size... (You have to horizontally drag the screen to fully read it).
But when you drag and drop, sometimes a lot of the previous text/images is left. The device doesn't do a final refresh in order to clean all the left-over text. Result: unreadable web pages.
Something about cookies is broken. I log in Mobileread and I tick the "Remember me" option. Then, I turn off the device, turn it on, I return to Mobileread again and I'm NOT remembered... I can swear this issue didn't happen in 3.8.0

Incredible, Kobo is just incredible... in each new release they break something new which previously worked more or less fine...

good old time.. I think skippy because they skip some numbers in this firmware..
/edit after reading further I see the explanation at post 53, telling me what I thought it was.
/edit 2, I hope that when there are patches, they will be announced here ?

if true, then that is no so bad, as I don't buy my books from the Kobo store.

When amazon did something similar, they applied it to side-loaded books also.

I was delighted to see that Time Left in Chapter/Book is now available as it is something I've been waiting for. However then I read it is only for kepubs, what a disappointment. Is there a way to have this information without the normal kepub wasted space of the header/title?

I prefer the percentage read of the book which I can get for an epub sent to my Kobo using Calibre. The book type is listed in my library as Kobo Epub.

Not sure if that means it a Kepub or not.
