Well, I'd be responding to your organisation skills with, "That's just sick!", but I am constantly aware of the "grandma" in your username, and instead I feel all warm and comforted inside.

Ah .... so it was the "Attack of the Mutant Tomato" .... I'll settle for that, it's a good working theory.

Wasn't that a 1970s B movie?

You are probably thinking of "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" which was written, directed, and produced by some friends of mine from high school. I am told that they got the idea for the title from my allergy (oddly enough) because they always used to tease me about the "killer tomatoes" in their own sandwiches at lunch.

Small world, I know.

Yes, indeed. The dad of the producer/director of some of the Larry the Cable Guy movies is the son of my family lawer in San Antonio....

Funny thing is, I didn't keep in touch with those guys, but reconnected with them long after the movie came out. John DeBello (who directed and produced) ... his mother and my mother started going on cruises together (after my step-father died), and I went to visit a friend (after I moved home for a bit), saw his "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" poster, and said I wanted one. My friend said, something to the effect of "well, you do know that John DeBello and Steve Peace made that movie, don't you. Remember all that killer tomato stuff at lunch??"

So, I went home, picked up the phone and called John. He was kind enough to send me posters for all of the Killer Tomato movies and sequels. The artwork for the first film was the one I really liked best, so that's the one that hangs in my media room now.

My mom dated Steve's dad before she met my step-father, so I knew him fairly well as well. I think he's in the California state legislature these days ... authoring legislation I probably disagree with on a very fundamental level.

hm. avoiding reinstalling my apps by trying to decide what to buy during the fictionwise wishlist sale. (ha, sweet procrastination...)

The girl with the dragon tattoo is on sale for 8.46$ instead of 24.95$, so that one seems like an obvious choice, but... it's the first of a trilogy, and the other two are not available as ebooks (yet ????), and it's in english (if i get the other two as paper, i'll get them in french).

Pride and Prejudice Penguin enhanced ebook with extra notes and such is on sale for 5.78$ instead of 8$, but 1. it's in the bleeding public domain, are ya kidding me with the 8$ list price ??? and 2. i think it's 0.50$ at amazon, but of course i can't buy that one because i don't have a kindle (bastiches). and it's not like i don't already have a copy or 5 (including an illustrated version). so, i'm buying it for the notes alone, and i just can't decide whether it's worth it.

any help with these life-changing decisions is appreciated.

thanks. i definitely plan to read it. the choice is, buy the english ebook (knowing that i'll probably read the two others in french, in paper), or read the whole trilogy in french paper books (hoping that the french trilogy will eventually be available as ebooks). i think i'll get it though, you're right.

what about the pride and prejudice one ? what do you think ?

I'm at the FictionunWise site trying to decide what to buy next:

The Dragon with the Girl Tattoo - a sad romance about Smaug just before he met Bilbo. Learn all about how he got that bare patch on his left breast.

or

Prejudice and Pride, the story of racial prejudice amongst a pride of cowardly lions in Oz.

Is it Friday, yet?

Well, I like Pride and Predjudice as well, read it like ages ago in dead-tree version, so it might be nice to have one with some extra goodies. Heck, just charge one of your clients for "unforseen expenses" and buy them both

Responsible is such a harsh word. Let's just say I had some completely unconscious input. John, Steve and Costa Dillon were really "responsible."

It's just another six degrees bit of mindless trivia.

LOL...

Zelda; You just got puter, save your cash and don't purchase a book already in the public domain. At least not yet. Go with the Smaug prequel
