Both look good to me. I prefer the warmer screen colour, personally.

Josie, your H2O looks fantastic! I don't think the PW blacks are blacker, but maybe my eyes aren't awake yet. I think the text on the H2O looks better.

I think the clarity on the H20 is slightly better, but tbh there's not much in it, both have Carta screens, I think the PW2 is 212 ppi and the H20 is 265ppi but i'm not 100% sure, thats guessing from what I remember.

You can zoom in on these photos
The second photo shows that the H2O is much nicer if you need to read with a larger font. Also, if you install the hyphenation dictionary (that Kobo forgot to include with), you will get an even better looking display at the large font size. I'm hoping the hyphenation dictionary does come with the next firmware update. But if not, there are directions on MR how to get such and how to install.

All of those photos do show how much better the H2O is then the PW2. The PW2 has a kind of cold bluish look to them and the text on the H2O looks a bit darker. Thank you for the photos.

Thanks so much for all the pics, Josie. I'm considering between the Voyage and H20 so it's really helpful to see pics of the H20. To my eyes in the pics the font looks a little darker on the PW. I wonder if they might be even darker on the voyage.

I do prefer the warmer screen tone of the H20 though. Hmm. I guess I'll have to see what the voyage brings on Tuesday. I love that you can change fonts on the H20 too. Sigh. It's a hard choice!

I wanted the H20 for the font and margin options, and its waterproofness.

I've been reading on the 6 inch Aura for nearly a year now and whilst the software can be niggly I really enjoy reading on it even though the PW2 screen is far better than the small Aura, which is considered to have the worst screen of any Kobo.

I prefer either of my Kobo's to the PW2 so it will be interesting to see if the Voyage can tempt me back.

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on the voyage compared to the H20. I'm mainly interested in the H20 due to the fonts and customization. Drives me nuts that you can't do any of that on the Kindles. Right now, I'm pretty confused on which one I'd prefer. The bigger screen on the Kobo is nice, but not something I feel I have to have. Are you finding the larger screen to be a nicer reading experience or not a big deal?

Ultimately, whichever one has the better screen and darker fonts would sway me the most. I do really like the page turn button idea on the voyage too. My PW2 has a warmer screen, my PW1 was much more of a cold blue white. I'll be curious to see which way the voyage leans.

I think both devices look really nice and offer different pluses so it's making the decision really hard for me this time.

While the PW2 does look good, the H2O looks better. The fonts are blacker then the PW2 and the sharpness of the fonts is better. Remember, the H2O is on the right and the PW2 is on the left (in case you got them mixed up). Take a good look at the chapter title font. That really shows the difference in sharpness. The H2O is going to look so much better then any Reader I've used. I look forward to getting one.

Oh, I was looking at the devices correctly. I should say that nice as it is to see this comparison, my interest is in a comparison between the H20 and the new Voyage to make my decision. Right now this is comparing new tech to older tech. Hopefully the Voyage screen will be better than the PW2 screen, just as the H20 screen is better than the Aura.

I guess I'll see come Tuesday when comparisons can be made between the two. For me, both devices have their own pluses, which is what is complicating my choice, but the screen and contrast is ultimately the most important thing for me when it comes down to it.

Given that the H2O screen is easily noticeably better then the PW2 screen, I would expect the Voyage screen to be better then the PW2 screen as well. I would think that the Voyage screen would be similar to the H2O screen. It's possible the H2O screen might be a little better because of one less layer on it. The capacitance tough on the Voyage is another layer. Also, I'm thinking that maybe the battery of the H2O might last longer as you can turn off the light.

Great photos Josieb1. I think the H2O just has the edge in those photos, but I'm actually pretty surprised how well the PW2 compares to it. I do like the creaminess of the H2O screen, it looks far better than the supposed 'normal' yellow people were saying was acceptable.

See, imo, it's not noticeably better. I think it's very close. What I do think is better on the H20 compared to the PW is the screen looks slightly more even, and it's also warmer but that is personal preference. However, to my eyes, the fonts are slightly darker on the PW2. Josie also mentioned the fonts were slightly darker on the PW2 and she is seeing both devices in person. So that's important to me and I'm hoping the contrast is further improved on the voyage.

If the screens and contrast are equal on both, I will lean more toward getting the H20 as I love that you can customize it. But I also love the page turn buttons on the voyage. Also, I'm a little concerned about the software being glitchy on the Kobo as I've read about that. I have never had a problem with the software on any of my kindles. I guess we'll see once both devices are out and the screens can be compared in person. This is the first time I have been really tempted away from getting a Kindle. I certainly think the H20 looks like a great e-reader.

The photos show the H2O to have darker text. And you can adjust the text to up the weight on the H2O.

As for the glitches with the Kobo firmware, Daivdfor says that the next firmware version is worth waiting for.

The problem I see with the Voyage is not the hardware, but the software. If I'm paying $200 for a Reader, I want customization options that work, not ones that go from not really acceptable to totally unacceptable. Plus, Cloud collections is a really bad idea on Amazon's part. Also, nobody yet knows if the Voyage will be able to be jailbroken and if so, what can be done with it.

Amazon should be trying to complete with Kobo in terms of the software and Amazon is losing fast.

I must admit, I'm not surprised you asked. I have managed not to cross the border just yet. haha. This Tuesday the voyage will arrive and I'm considering also picking up an H20 (I will not say "my", I will not say "my") to compare them directly. It's my biggest issue with the kindles. It's ridiculous and frustrating to me that they aren't giving us more customization options.

If you don't mind me asking, what will you do if you like the Voyage better? I thought Kobo doesn't allow "don't like it" as the reason for a return. Or am I wrong?
