Both look good to me. I prefer the warmer screen colour, personally.

Josie, your H2O looks fantastic! I don't think the PW blacks are blacker, but maybe my eyes aren't awake yet. I think the text on the H2O looks better.

All of those photos do show how much better the H2O is then the PW2. The PW2 has a kind of cold bluish look to them and the text on the H2O looks a bit darker. Thank you for the photos. Last edited by JSWolf; 10-19-2014 at 10:08 AM. |

I do prefer the warmer screen tone of the H20 though. Hmm. I guess I'll have to see what the voyage brings on Tuesday. I love that you can change fonts on the H20 too. Sigh. It's a hard choice! |

I've been reading on the 6 inch Aura for nearly a year now and whilst the software can be niggly I really enjoy reading on it even though the PW2 screen is far better than the small Aura, which is considered to have the worst screen of any Kobo. I prefer either of my Kobo's to the PW2 so it will be interesting to see if the Voyage can tempt me back. |

Ultimately, whichever one has the better screen and darker fonts would sway me the most. I do really like the page turn button idea on the voyage too. My PW2 has a warmer screen, my PW1 was much more of a cold blue white. I'll be curious to see which way the voyage leans. I think both devices look really nice and offer different pluses so it's making the decision really hard for me this time. |

While the PW2 does look good, the H2O looks better. The fonts are blacker then the PW2 and the sharpness of the fonts is better. Remember, the H2O is on the right and the PW2 is on the left (in case you got them mixed up). Take a good look at the chapter title font. That really shows the difference in sharpness. The H2O is going to look so much better then any Reader I've used. I look forward to getting one.

I guess I'll see come Tuesday when comparisons can be made between the two. For me, both devices have their own pluses, which is what is complicating my choice, but the screen and contrast is ultimately the most important thing for me when it comes down to it. |

Great photos Josieb1. I think the H2O just has the edge in those photos, but I'm actually pretty surprised how well the PW2 compares to it. I do like the creaminess of the H2O screen, it looks far better than the supposed 'normal' yellow people were saying was acceptable.

If the screens and contrast are equal on both, I will lean more toward getting the H20 as I love that you can customize it. But I also love the page turn buttons on the voyage. Also, I'm a little concerned about the software being glitchy on the Kobo as I've read about that. I have never had a problem with the software on any of my kindles. I guess we'll see once both devices are out and the screens can be compared in person. This is the first time I have been really tempted away from getting a Kindle. I certainly think the H20 looks like a great e-reader. |

As for the glitches with the Kobo firmware, Daivdfor says that the next firmware version is worth waiting for. The problem I see with the Voyage is not the hardware, but the software. If I'm paying $200 for a Reader, I want customization options that work, not ones that go from not really acceptable to totally unacceptable. Plus, Cloud collections is a really bad idea on Amazon's part. Also, nobody yet knows if the Voyage will be able to be jailbroken and if so, what can be done with it. Amazon should be trying to complete with Kobo in terms of the software and Amazon is losing fast. |
