It was probably just an onion masquerading as a tomato. No, no. Let's not go there. Never mind.

oh !! oh !! it's like a dagger to my heart.

trust me : ie is worse, in so many ways i won't even try to list them, but here are a couple you might be interested in :

- security. oh, the many many security holes. danger, will robinson.
- display : ie plays it fast and loose with the markup language we use to make lovely websites. slightly less in v7 than in v6, but still. this means that when we make a site, we often have to make the site the way it *should* be made first (using proper, valid code and following best practices), then test it out in ie and corrupt our lovely valid code with hacks (oh, the many many ugly hacks befouling our lovely elegant code) until it looks and acts the way we intended in ie as well as in ff. if fewer people used ie, perhaps we wouldn't have to do this anymore, because 1. perhaps eventually the market share would dwindle to negligible and we could just pretend ie didn't exist and stop writing extra code for it altogether (i can dream can't i ?) 2. perhaps M$ would eventually be obligated to make a browser that ACTUALLY RESPECTED THE WEBSTANDARDS the way they're all supposed to (sheesh). (again : dreaming, no doubt).

in the meantime, use firefox. it's the only answer.

(and i could go on, so be thankful i didn't)

I can eat them cooked, whatever it is that I have always been allergic to is destroyed by heat. But ... it's just so damn strange. I have been allergic to raw tomato ever since I was little. Just one seed would throw me into anaphylactic shock. In fact, I had a little scare just a few months ago that put me into the ER.

Allergies don't just poof disappear like that ... so it's just bizarre. I'm used to my body doing bizarre things .... it never has skewed as "normal" on anyone's scale .... but this is beyond weird.

I would love to support you on this one, but the newest version of Firefox is, for sure, not the most stable application in this whole wide world, to put it mildly (no, please do not kill me).

I am not an IE supporter, either. I mainly use Opera and occasionally Firefox.

According to the statistics, 80% of the people who visit my web site use IE. I did a poll of my clients and over 60% of those use Firefox. Therefore I conclude, Firefox users are the most intelligent ones on the Internet. (Those are true numbers.)

well, there is no *perfect* browser. firefox also has issues. however it is far closer to perfect than ie. but hey, opera, firefox, safari... whatever you like, as long as it's not ie. and it does have a lot of qualities which easily make up for its flaws.

Therefore I test under Firefox and at the end as long as it doesn't look too horrible in IE I put it up. I refuse to spend a great deal of time making it look pretty for the minority of my clients that use IE. If they were to complain, I can imagine myself saying something like, "Just upgrade your browser to Firefox and see the web as it was intended to be viewed."

And given the amount of websites that me I'd get a far better experience browsing the web (or at least their tiny part of it) using IE, you'd be well justified in doing so

If it's a sales site I occasionally blat them an e-mail explaining how they've lost custom because of their attitudes.

PS Opera rules

I am self employed and not a web designer. All I ask from my web site is to present an overview of what I do and who I am. The goal of the web site is to get interested people who have a need for my services to call me to discuss their situation in greater depth.

I've always had the opinion that people that know what they are doing use Opera or Firefox (or Safari if on Mac). The question of which one is better out of Opera or Fx (the abbrev. is not FF ) tends to simply be which one a person used first. Both are great browsers. Each has their own benefits and quirks. My days on the web went from Lynx > IBM Web Explorer > Netscape > Opera. Firefox was years off of being out when I started using Opera so that is what I became familiar with.

Obviously, you got a mutant tomato. Whatever cultivar that was on your sandwich, it was missing (or mutated beyond your immune system's ability to recognize) the protein that you are allergic to. Since that protein is not something that was being selected for in commercial (in)breeding, it's just the luck of the draw that the protein was mutated in that particular cultivar/plant.
