Thanks for commenting beedaddy I was beginning to think I was the only one who ever saw a defective H20.

Did you persevere or give up?

I ordered the third H2O and expect it arriving tomorrow. There must be an H2O without any defects out there.

Good luck, I hope it works out okay. I've given up for now, will wait for the Kindle Voyage. I buy my books DRM free from Independent publishers so it doesn't matter to me what device I use.

I'm badly shaken by my experience with the H20, it seems such a lottery to get a decent working device. I only own one Kobo an Aura and that has pin pricks anyway so I know their quality control is not good but the issues I've had this time I don't want to go through again. It will take a week or so just to get a refund so I see how I feel once I have got my money back. We only have one seller in the UK so it would mean buying from the same one again.

Yep. Mine. And you can't have it . I must have been lucky; both my HD and my H2O are flawless.

I'd like to thank Joseib1 and beedaddy. Because they've received so many bad H2Os, it's significantly increased the likelihood that everyone else will get good ones.

Neither of you are making me feel any better. It like rubbing salt on what is still a very open wound.

Kobo's (open) secret launch strategy: "Reduce global casualties by running down select customers with faulty hardware repeatedly"

Here's a for being a good sport. It's all in good fun. On a serious note, hope your local retailers hasten the process of stocking in some pristine H2O samples.

I'm not sure I'm such a good sport right now. I'm still angry and upset. At least the Kindle Voyage I've ordered should be due in about three weeks.

God knows how long it will take before I trust buying Kobo again.

Of course I can't even get a refund until Argos actually manage to collect the two faulty H20's that are sitting by the door!

I know that feeling as I've had an iPhone 6 waiting to be collected since 29 September. I keep calling Apple who book collection with TNT, I wait in and they don't turn up. I hope your collection goes faster.

That's awful Lyn

My two parcels have just been collected. I was a bit worried as I wasn't given anything as confirmation but I've rang them and they've already showing up as collected so I'll get my refund in about a week.

Apart from the hiccup with yesterday's collection not happening the rest of my order with Argos online has been flawless, they were delivered on time, both times next day delivery, and they never changed me postage.

If only the H20's had been as good as the service.

Well at least that's one thing you can be happy about. Sorry you had such bad luck.

Hey everyone, maybe my satisfactory experience of the same "please format disk" issue might help somebody.

So here's my story. Got mine Kobo H2O today and then tried to connect it to my PC running on Windows, and, of course, saw the "please format bla bla bla" message. My shot in the dark was an attempt of connecting the e-reader on Linux Ubuntu. And it was a complete success: besides the fact that Linux was able to see the e-reader disk storage and I could copy books onto it, after this the device began to work flawlessly even on Windows. It seems that Linux has fixed the storage, moving bad sectors out.

I got this message from a pc windows and from calibre but only adressed to the 32go micro-sd inserted. It was correctly formatted before thus I plugged the H2O into my mac, put some book on the micro-SD storage. After that, no message anymore.
