That's some good advice. I'm extra careful with my Kindle, and I really don't need an expensive cover. Not to mention the fact it really increases the weight of the device. My next Kindle will be coverless.

I carry my phone with me all day every day. It's probably out in my hand 100x the amount my kindle is, and I've only ever dropped it twice (both times i was off my face). I can't see myself ever dropping my kindle, or at least the probability is so low i'm not going to spend £40 for that insurance. I appreciate this may not be the case for other, clumsier, people but throwing around blanket statements like 'you'd be dumb not to get a cover' is ridiculous.
Also, the added weight isn't really welcomed. A sleeve while it's in my bag is where it's at for me. |

I'm extra careful with all the Reader I have/use and I still have a cover for each one. You don't always need a cover that's expensive or that heavy. All it takes is that one drop where a cover could have protected it. |

LOL! No we don't. Not all of us commuters are standing up reading our kindles on crowded buses or trains. A lot of us can actually sit down pull out our readers without being in danger of having it spontaneously fly out of our hands. It's not like we're navigating a war zone. A sleeve is more than adequate protection for most people on the go.

Jon, by any chance do you sell ebook reader covers for a living?

I know the cover adds weight, but I prefer to hold something that is not clenched in my hands because it is so thin. For this reason, I have always liked the mEdge covers. They are soft to hold. Holding a piece of paper straight is more difficult that holding a pad of paper because I have to squeeze my fingers together more. This may not make sense to many people, but that's my ergonomics! That said, I may try one of the thinner covers this time. I just hope they don't feel really hard to the touch.

Not that I'm doing this. ![]() You can even use it for commuting if you tie a string from the elastic to your wrist (although to be extra careful, you may want to use a chain, just in case the string isn't strong enough, and probably use two elastics; you can never be too careful.) ![]() |

Looks interesting. How much weight does it add in terms of the feel? |

Does anyone make a sleeve with the on/off magnet built in?

You know what is super light weight and prevents accidental drops? A lanyard. Like on phones pre-iphone. Or on a Nintendo handheld. Or compact camera. Some Nooks. Or a cluch. Too bad this is out of fashion.
