Called my local Best Buy. They said they had them on display but none in store to sell. Would have to be ordered. So I wiped my old Fire back to factory settings and went in to order. Girl said they have them in stock but none on display. Got the 16GB. It's really nice. I like the size. I was also able to use a $5 Best Buy rewards coupon too.

They check the serial number against a list of devices that have been deregistered. Amazon, BN, and Sony all deregister ereaders that have been reported lost or stolen.
