I just read on Facebook Harlequin is going to have new digital only series launch November 3rd called Intrigue Noir. It looks like Julie Miller is one of the first authors of the line. I wonder what the difference will be in the imprint?

NM: I found the the page telling about it here

I'm not sure what I think about it have to wait and see.

Yeah, I read about that on JM's website earlier this year. At first the book was titled The Watchers. From the blurb it sounds like it might be first person POV which I don't normally like. But she's an autobuy author, so... Currently I am behind on her books. Need to read the last few.

The Noir books are finally up on Harlequin's website. The other big difference is that they will be digital only.

Interesting that all 4 of the blurbs for the books on the harlequin website read like they'll be first person. I hope that's not going to be the case for the entire line.

HQ has done that before made the blurb's first person but the story is usually not. I love first person myself if it's done right.

But it being done right is the key. There are some first person POV stories I have loved. I think I just read too many first person historicals during the 80s/early 90s and burned out on it. And most of the attempts I've made at reading books in the past few years that are first person sadly haven't been done well.

Unlaced by Kristina Cook
(originally published by Zebra 2004)

Quote:
From nationally bestselling author Kristina Cook comes an award-winning historical romance set in Regency England--first time in digital!

All Lucy Abbington wants is to get through her first London season without losing sight of her true ambition—gaining some informal training in veterinary arts so that she can retire peacefully to the countryside with her beloved horses. Instead, she’s caught up in a whirlwind of balls, marriage proposals, and ton intrigues. Worse, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to her sponsors’ maddening neighbor, Henry Ashton, the Marquess of Mandeville. The handsome, arrogant, sometimes infuriating Mandeville stokes a passionate fire within her that won’t be denied, no matter the consequence.

Deep, emotional scars secretly plague Henry, Lord Mandeville. As a result, he’s avoided romantic entanglements at all costs. Only, now he needs a wife—someone from a wealthy, powerful family to further his political aspirations. Instead, he finds himself all but obsessed with the beautiful but unconventional Lucy Abbington—a woman whose passions and wit stir desires he’d rather ignore. And yet…she might just be the one woman who can heal his wounded heart.

Lucy and Henry’s heads say no, but their hearts say yes. Will they find themselves undone by love?

BTW: If any MN (Twin Cities area) folks out there know of anyone looking for a good designer (mainly print, but other things too) with 20+ years experience (or related fields, wouldn't mind some change) let me know. Remember how I was layed off earlier? Well I have been working there part time and getting partial unemployment and they were telling me they were close to being able to bring me back full-time. Had a meeting today since I found out I've only got two weeks on unemployment left. Turns out they've screwed me and have no intention of my position going back to full time until at least the first of the year. It's partly my fault I know, but having been there for 20 years and having a loyalty to the owner made me trust them (thought they had loyalty to me too) more than I should have. I've been looking all this time, but not as hard as I could have and there just aren't many design jobs here that fit. I'm hoping to hear back from one company, but who knows. Sorry to share the misery, just needed to vent a bit. Sorry for the way OT.
That's awful. I hope you find something soon My husband is in the same boat, dangled with the prospect of getting his old job back but the company hasn't got the contracts for the work. This is the 2nd government contract he's had that's gone kerplooey on a weird schedule rather than the usual option renewals/ bridge contracts/ new contractor scenarios.
