I bought mine from Argos and I specifically asked about returns. They said I could return it for any reason within 30 days, and provided it was in a reasonable state (ie in original packaging, etc) there'd be no problem.

FWIW, I honestly can't recall ever having personally seen any reader I've bought, prior to buying it .

The display quality of my H20 is far superior to my HD which, IMHO, was the best ereader on the market. I thought the HD was gorgeous but the H20 is much, much brighter, cleaner (no ghosting whatsoever), and fonts are rendered with darker blacks in comparison. In my view, the display of the H20 has no apparent yellow cast and is absolutely stunning. The HD by comparison seems a bit darker and "dingier" at the same setting. I would not have believed it had I not seen it myself. I couldn't be more pleased.

That's very encouraging; considering I'll be comparing it to my Kobo Touch it's nigh impossible to be disappointed.

As far as I skimmed through previous posts: have people come to like the yellowish backlight or has it simply faded after some usage? I gather most have received it with just hints of yellow?

Try 1.800.368.5390 - I got through fairly quickly, although it looks like the tracking number they gave me is probably wrong :/

Argos actually emailed me today to confirm that the Kobo H20 is an excluded item. So no way am I buying one from them.

Thanks! I did use my lunch break to call that number.

The first person I got through to was able to look up my order fairly easily, and gave me a tracking number, saying it was for Canada Post. Unfortunately, Canada Post rejected it as invalid; it's about three digits too short, for one thing. So mine is wrong too.

I received an email with a ticket number, so I phoned the number you gave again and punched in the ticket number. The new person couldn't find me or my order in the database for most of the rest of the hour. To be fair, a good chunk of that time was spent on hold waiting for a supervisor who never answered.

Finally, the second person realized she needed to clear the filter field in her database search form, and found my order record. She gave me the same broken Canada Post number.

The second person offered to forward my information to the Direct Orders department. I'm supposed to receive an email from them in 24-48 hours. I don't know what good that will do, but I guess we'll see.

Yeah, I called a second time, and they "verified" the invalid number, and also said they didn't know when the device had actually shipped out... rather... amazing, to say the least.

When I got home, turns out the device had arrived The tracking number on the customs form, and what was passed to USPS, was a completely different number. That number worked fine on the CanadaPost website. Pulled the packing slip out, and the number they gave me *was* on a shipping label underneath, which if I had to guess, was improperly generated or some such, so they did the second one?

I'd never actually had to deal with Kobo Customer service before, and I have to say I'm "mighty impressed"

That's really tough to say if it's faded or I've gotten used to it. I want to say that it has faded from when I first turned it on, but it could be that I have it at a different light level or that I've gotten more used to it .

I would say that at most light levels other than a completely dark room, the light appears white. Since I almost never read in a completely dark room, I don't notice much yellow.

That's quite opaque....but I sort of understood what you meant.

I just received my H2O yesterday and agree with treadlightly that I also don't notice much yellow. Mine looks white, comparable to the light on the HD. What does jump out at me is that comparing the screens at the same light level (in my case 33%), the H2O is much brighter than the HD.

I have the same observations. Light on my H20 isn't yellow at all, looks very comparable to my HD. But set at the same brightness level, the H20 is very noticeably brighter. It's not a slight difference.

Finally arrived last night! I'm in the US. It's MUCH bigger than I expected it to be, that extra .8 inches is actually substantial. My Glo I could usually stick in my pants pocket, but I'm going to have to come up with a new way to carry this one. It's also a little hard to hold with one hand. I'm a bit disappointed it's not more portable, but it should make a great reader to leave at home. The screen is also much whiter, it looks fantastic.
