The First Rule of Ten by Gay Hendricks (Wikipedia) & Tinker Lindsay is the 1st in their Tenzing Norbu series of investigative/murder mysteries starring a Holmes-inspired Tibetan monastery-raised former Buddhist monk turned Los Angeles cop turned PI, free courtesy of alternative spirituality specialty publisher Hay House, who in paper are distributed in Canada by Raincoast Books, who incidentally handled the original print run of the Harry Potter books for our region.

According to some of the customer reviews, this is probably as "inspirational" for Buddhism with the contemplation and the spiritual insights as many of the specialty Christian publisher books we get are for their own religion. But it's got more sex and violence in it than you'd expect to find within one of its counterpart offerings, probably because Buddhists are generally less inhibited about that (and, you know, it's L.A. and all…).

Currently free @ iTunes UK, and thence price-matched at Amazon UK.

Seems unlikely to cross the pond, as this is a slightly different edition with a different ISBN than the North American one, even though they're both out from the exact same publishing house imprint.

And this has been the selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook of the day.

Because I don't often get to post official publisher promo freebies with Buddhist sleuths in them. Actually, never before, as far as I can recall. And it's nice to have some variety in the type of faith-based books posted.
