Oh, I dunno. I think the fine pen line is terrific there - just perfect! How does your postal system cope with fatter cards like this is (now) -- will the postal system squish it?

It should arrive okay. I initially wanted to use some gems of the outside of the card but those are thick and I was afraid it would tear the envelope in transit.

I also discovered that bread ties are great for sticking on things so you can put them it in a D ring photo album. From my trip to Newcastle I had some bigger mementos I didn't was to stick onto a page or stuff into a folder (flyers from the hotel and museums, maps of the local mall, etc). I glued two bread ties on the back and it can go in between the relevant photo pages in my photo book. We have a big roll of them to use on items in our store where the price tag tends to fall off (eg. extension cords). They also work great to label the various power cords with near the plug, so you know which one is the printer, the monitor, lamp, etc.

As Norton and I walked around the yard just before dusk, I spotted two hares, one beside the shed, and one in one in a front garden. Norton missed seeing both of them. He was too intent on playing his game of how far he can press the boundaries when he's off the leash to pick up on anything else.

I just saw on the Facebook page of the local Tourist Information Centre that they have a Lego model of the Dom (church tower that isn't connected to the church). There's a Lego World event held at the local trade fair this month. If it isn't busy in the store I might go by to take a couple of pictures.

Meanwhile I'm drooling over a big tote, one with wheels, for my craft supplies. It would be great for taking all my stuff, including my little photo printer with me on holiday next month. I might buy it at the craft fair if I can find a good deal on it.

Awwww Congrats! Nothing like a new baby to snuggle and rock and smell.

But I don't miss the sleep deprivation

Trying to figure out the wiring for a double pole/six throw switch for an equipment test box that includes three different sized sockets, two test poles, and provision for an ohm meter. I generally get stumped by wiring a bicycle bell...

Ooh, sounds complicated. When I'm working on a project (e.g., fixing a Windows PC/Mac or rooting a tablet), I Google search a lot! I don't know where I'd be without Google... Let us know how it goes!

Oh, I can let you know right now. It will work.
I simply don't accept anything less.

I tried Google and YouTube when I started the project, but all I could find there were either instructions for making a simple 'single 3-lead' socket and two LEDs, or making scoring boxes. There are some instructions written up in the book "Magnum Livre D'Escrime," for the box I have in mind, but his uses an external Ohm-meter, and I want to incorporate one into the box itself.

This just means I have to sit and use jumper test leads to set up the switching, and keep moving them until the proper little bulbs light up when I run each test. That will take the most time. Then it's just a matter of soldering them into place.

I would love to have a light box to help me make my own journalling cards (I'm not good at lettering). But I'm not willing to pay €50 for one, which is the cheapest I can find at the moment in the Netherlands.

So I'm now checking the websites of our suppliers to see if one of them has a flat light fixture I can use as a light box.

Half a dozen small white LEDs wired together, a 1/4V 750 Ohm resistor, a nine-volt battery all set into a shallow box with a milk-glass (or white plexiglass) top will take about an hour to make, and you probably have most of the parts in your store!

We don't sell the tiny solderable LEDs. We deal mostly with 230 volts, plus the 12 volts halogen but we don't sell electronics. The local electronics store does but I'm no good at soldering.

A couple of weeks ago we got some flat and square light fixtures with a CFL in it, that would have been ideal. But my father send them back because the type of CFL needed isn't available in the Netherlands. I found one light fixture I might be able to use, but I'll have to make a call to ask if it's got a closed or an open back.

It's very frustrating because Dick Blick's got them from around $20, but that 110/115 volts.

I'm now checking if Amazon UK's got something, then I only need to put a Dutch plug on it.

Great. Problem solved! Half of the electrics that I use here I brought from Japan with it's 100v rating. Thailand is 240v. In every shop specializing in travel accessories, and of course at the shops in the airports one can buy a voltage converter for under $10 for a 300 watt one the size of two packs of cigarettes. And for lights you only need low wattage. I keep a high watt converter (500 watt) in the kitchen for my food processor and blender, and a low watt converter with my tools. I also have a 1000 watt converter that I used to use with an AirStream Oven, and that one weighs a ton and is the size of a shoe box! I've used these for years, and they've saved me a lot of money (when I remember to use them... Otherwise they cost me a fortune!)
