@Spinni: Ich glaube nicht, dass doubleshuffle Dich absichtlich verärgern wollte. In Deutschland wird der Boxeraufstand meist nicht ausführlich im Geschichtsunterricht behandelt, und die meisten wissen außer dem Namen nichts darüber. Wenn ich zum Beispiel "Boxer Rebellion" höre, denke ich zum Beispiel eher an die britische Indie-Band mit demselben Namen, die trotz dem bescheuerten Namen durchaus gute Musik macht.

Da dies ein Thread über deutsche Bücher ist, was wäre denn in etwa das chinesische Äquivalent zum Faust und welche Übersetzung würdest Du empfehlen?

Es war wirklich nur ein blöder Kalauer. Ich hatte den Boxeraufstand vor allem als anti-imperialistische Bewegung abgespeichert, und sowas stehe ich grundsätzlich positiv gegenüber. Die berüchtigte Hunnenrede Wilhelms II. zeigt, dass die Deutschen, wie üblich, eine ziemlich widerwärtige Rolle gespielt haben.

Doitsus Frage nach einem chinesischen Faust-Äquivalent würde ich mich anschließen.

Nein Nein, ich bin gar nicht ärgerlich. Ich habe am Anfang an den Zusammenhang zwischen Boxeraufstand und Faust gar nicht gedacht. Nachdem mir der Satz als ein Wortspiel eingefallen ist, habe ich ein kleines Bild der Faust gepostet und einen komischen Satz geschrieben, nur um Spaß zu machen.
Wenn ich mich tatsächlich geärgert hätte, ginge es nur darum, dass ich nicht sofort das Wortspiel verstanden habe. Der ganz kleine Ärger richtet sich nur auch mich.
Entschuldigung für die doppeldeutige Ausdrucksweise.

PS:
Ich zeige euch das chinesische Zeichen "Faust" in mehreren kalligrafischen Schreibstilen und die chinesische Übersetzung von Goethes Faust, die ich persönlich auch besitze.

Ich lasse das Schriftzeichen natürlich zuerst digital erscheinen.

Zwei Versionen des englischen Originals kann man bei gutenberg.org pflücken. (Wie immer nicht besonders schön, da aus dem HTML automtisch generiert. Und ohne Cover.)

Die deutsche Übersetzung gibt es bei Zeno. Da hatte ich abgefangen in Richtung Sigil zu werfen, doch dann ist es liegen geblieben. Blöderweise ist es kein Roman, sondern ein Theaterstück. Die wollen immer ein paar Schippen Extra Zuwendung, wenn es nicht nach lieblos zusammmengeschustert aussehen soll.

Um den englischen Marlowe kümmere ich mich, der ist fast fertig. Ich muss aber erst noch mit einem anderen Projekt weiterkommen (was Neues!).
