For a small annual free you can get one day delivery on all Amazon shipments.

Plus, you an call UPS and have them waive the signing requirement for all deliveries. I have no signing requirement at my house.

If you have a gift card balance on your account, they will take that immediately. The balance gets charged when it ships.

Keep an eye on local stores, especially Best Buy, during the first week or so after release day. Also keep an eye on the forum posts here at MR around that time. People often post when and where they find them in stores. You may find it available in a store long before your unit ships. If so, just buy locally and cancel your order with Amazon.

Always, always, pre-order the instant it's announced. That way you can cancel your pre-order if you change your mind. Wait a few days and there's always a long waiting time.

Bought one on impulse from Argos here in the UK a couple of days ago, and very happy with it. I'm sure I'll buy a Voyage at some point, but the H2O is considerably cheaper, and does exactly what I want.

It's entirely normal, and I'm afraid doesn't indicate early delivery. Sorry . It just means that it's available for you to send books to it, and they'll all appear on it when you get it.

I never considered the Kobo, being primed to jump on the latest iteration of the Kindle. Since I email all my ebooks DRM free via Kindle/Calibre, I guess I'm sorta stuck in the Kindle ecosystem (with the kind assistance of AA).

I don't recall ever hooking my Kindle up to the PC via USB. But I could.
