The Irish "aes sídhe" is pronounced "ees shee", and you are confused because now you think it's saying "sídhe" is pronounced "ees shee"?

Not my fault...

Cool Jim Butcher quotes...

“Do you know my dog’s name?”
“Cerberus,” I said promptly. “But everyone knows that.”
“Do you know what it means?”
I opened my mouth and closed it again. I shook my head.
“It is from an ancient word, kerberos. It means ‘spotted.’”
I blinked. “You’re a genuine Greek god. You’re the Lord of the Underworld. And . . . you named your dog Spot?”
Skin Game

This is interesting! A book in the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne has a pronunciation guide where "Bean Sidhe" was said to be pronunced as "BAN shee". I guess sidhe is "shee". I have a poor memory for pronunciation but I remember this one because of the "banshee"

At least Kerberos sounds cooler than "Here, Spotty, Spotty"

Hades' dog's name is not Kerberos, it's Cerberus.

Except that Hades appears to talk english in Skin Game, so in that case the more appropriate name be Cerberus. Even though he might use Kerberos when he talks greek? It is a wonder that everybody capable of human speech magically speaks english. Well magic, I guess. Unless Harry can understand and talk other languages? Don't remember any mention of that.

True enough. I was just pointing out that they are effectively the same name. I suppose it really depends upon which side of the Ionian one is standing for any true relevance...

True enough yourself. You don't know Alan well enough if you forget to smell a snark each time he posts. Or suspect a snark at the very least.

Did I say "smell a fart"? No, I mean a fart. Darn auto-correct. Snnfart. A snark.

Bahaha, Fluffy. And poor Ron gets the slime drippled on. And his excellent acting disgusted face. IMO a better actor at times than Harry when it came to facial expressions.

Did you catch both his (Rupert Grint) and Alan Rickman's performances in CBGB?

Yes, sometimes it's difficult to pickup on all of Alan's inside jokes.

Regardless, Fluffy works for me as well.

Finished Sand last night. Now I can truly recommend the book. And not only because it was written by Hugh Howey, but for the excellent story. No surprise it is somewhere in the future (never really does say when), and it is dystopian. It plays in the dessert (could you guess by the name?). The rest I probably should put in a spoiler, even though not much gets spoiled if you have not read it yet.
Spoiler:
The twist is that it is possible to dive in that sand just like diving in water. And then the other twists that appear almost every chapter are numerous. The story starts really small and confusing and grows bigger and bigger. It ends with a big finale. Everything inbetween has lots of action, lots of surprises, treachery, luck (good and bad), and a family story.

It is only one book if you pick up Sand (omnibus) for Kindle ($5.99 or free with KU). No series, so it will be a rather quick read that will shorten the time until Peace Talks at least a little bit.
