The .mobi book support is limited and supports very few of the features that Amazon added. For the most part, converting ,.mobi to .epub and then editing to clean up the oddities works much better.

Thanks, I suspect it is pure KF7 support (the mobi when mobipocket owned it) with no KF8 features.

Never got shipping confirmation so I finally called Kobo today. It's in transit via Canada Post, expected delivery date 10/5 (Sunday? I expect Mon/Tues is more likely). I'm in the USA, preordered the afternoon of 9/1. Kinda strange Kobo never sent me the tracking number but it looks like it was shipped on Monday so the delay isn't their fault, just the international shipping process. Just some info for anyone else waiting, just a few more days.

If they really want to compete with Amazon they gotta get their ordering system down, at least let me know the status without having to wait for Customer Service to return my call.

Thanks for your post. I'm in about exactly the same situation, my credit card was billed 9/29 and the invoice from Kobo was dated that morning.

If they are estimating Sunday then it could arrive Saturday or Monday. Keeping fingers crossed.

Same here. Received the invoice email on the 30th and all it said was free 7-10 day shipping. I'm pretty sure they mean 7-10 days, too.

Not necessarily. Mine was billed Monday with "7-10 day shipping" and arrived yesterday (Thurs). That didn't have to cross borders at all, so that probably helped. Still no shipping/tracking info, but IIRC with the Aura HD I did eventually get a tracking # (after I got the device) and the tracking never moved from "Accepted" by the post office

Lucky bastard Out of curiosity, was it USPS? If so there is some small hope it will arrive tomorrow for the rest of us!

Nope, good old Canada Post . If they shipped from a U.S. warehouse you could/should be in luck; if they were shipped from Canada getting across the border may delay it till next week. I'm not sure there have been any confirmed reports of where they were shipping from for U.S. customers (one post that suggested a U.S. warehouse I think though).

And not completely lucky -- I wasn't home so they didn't leave it, and by the time I got home, post office was closed so I couldn't get it. So I had to suffer through last night and all day today knowing it was mere miles away but not in my hands . But very glad to have it now .

I pre-ordered from Chapters/Indigo on Tuesday (after being assured that they would ship to the US and that I could send it back if it was defective). I got a shipping notice on Wednesday that said it could take two or three weeks to get to me because of customs inspection. The notice didn't have any tracking info.

Much to my surprise it arrived today! The package had a tracking number so, out of curiosity, I looked it up on Canada Post -- item processed in Mississauga Wednesday, item arrived in foreign country USJFKG Thursday, item arrived at the delivery office in the destination country 64114 USA on Friday, delivered 64113 USA Friday. Very impressive.

So far I'm very happy with it. The screen/lighting is a bit more towards yellow/beige than that on my Aura which is more towards the gray side; I have a slight preference for the H2O coloring. The light is very even. The text is very crisp and clear although, admittedly, my eyes really aren't good enough to be aware of the difference in resolution.

The software version is 3.7.0, which it said is current. I tried a few of my USB cords and they all worked. The H2O is recognized by Calibre 2.5 so I was able to sideload books.

Now all it needs is the Gecko Wetsuit, which won't ship until the end of the month.

I have the Paperwhite 2 which has a Carta screen, the colouring is more cream than white. I think that's the way it's supposed to be.

That´s the same for me.

My pw1 was more blue than cream, and my pw2 was more cream.

I prefer by far pw2 screen...

Yep just posted this in the other thread, the creamy colour is supposed to be an improvement over the blueish tint of the previous generation of ereaders. Unfortunately, some can look a little too yellow/brown. If I'd bought an H2O and felt the screen was too yellow, I'd be posting pictures of it to compare to other H2O's because there is a chance that you've bought a unit with too much yellow hue to it.

For anyone who picks theirs up at Argos, were there any out on display in store and were you able to open it up and take a look at it before leaving?

Or did you guys just grab it and run home to play with it

I picked it up at argos, then opened the box and checked that it was working properly before leaving. There were none on display at Argos in Stratford.
