I read this that you can win a year of scribd, but the 3 month is another free trial for new subscribers. Am I wrong here? I entered the DA thingy. But on that link it says to create an account. Not complaining, I got 3 months free already when I started.

I thought the contest is for three-months. The Harlequin/Scribd deal is exclusive for one year (meaning the titles won't be part of Kindle Unlimted, Oyster, or another aubscription service). But then when you enter the Rafflecopter thing says a free year. So the free 3 months is an offer if you click on that link and the contest is for a free year. I think

That is how I understood it. I saw the 1 year deal with Harlequin. I hope Scribd had year long deals at the very least with all of these publishers. I hope its very successful for them and they stay in after the deals between Scribd and the publishers run out.
Then maybe we'll get the rest of them to join and then I might pass out of joy. Its already fantastic.

And thanks copyrite for that info on subscribers winning. Not that I'll win anyway, I never win these things I enter.

Me either I think I'll enter anyway though. It would be nice not to have to call mommy every month to pay for my Scribd membership.

I have to say though this is probably the best $9 I have spent. Last month I closed down my websites and moved my blogs to Tumblr which is helping me keep my Scribd membership now I am not paying monthly for it. I was thinking of trying out KU but not sure if it's worth it or not.

I am bringing this question over from the Scribd thread.
Blossom mentioned that she likes the SIM (Special Intimate Moments) line from Harlequin and I never read the line so don't know what would be some good ones. So if you guys have any favorites in that line when it was active, or authors, I'll see if they part of Scribd. Of some authors might have gotten their rights back, or they won't be in the Scribd package, but i'll give me a start.

I answered over there while you were bringing this over here, so I'll move my answer...

I agree 100% with Blosson. SIM was the best imprint/line ever. A huge variety of stories and settings. The best ones are from the late 80s through the mid 90s.

Many of Nora Roberts old category romances were written for the SIM line. Linda Howard, Sandra Brown, Kathleen Korbel, Merline Lovelace, Judith Duncan, Ruth Kangan, Marilyn Pappano, Emilie Richards, Doreen Roberts, and Jill Shalvis also wrote for the line and were some of my favorites.

I'll second the recommendation for Justine Davis, particularly her Trinity Street West series and earlier books. Her Redstone, Inc series was very hit or miss, though there were books in it I loved. Most of my favorite early titles of hers have not yet been released digitally. The same for Rachel Lee's first books in the Conard Country series, Joyce McGill, early Sandy Steen, early Mary Ann Wilson, and early Lee Magner's books also have yet to be released (which are all also some of my favorites).

I bought a ton of the SIMs when Harlequin first released the treasury titles and had that reusable $4 off coupon a few years back. I still have many of my print copies. SIM was the first line I subscribed to, and the only one I kept, so I've read a lot of them over the years.

The line eventually became Silhouette Romantic Suspense in Feb 2007 and then Harlequin Romantic Suspense in April 2011. So if you are going by the info at FictionDB be aware that they still label the series SIM over there.

ETA: I've heard the search feature at Scribd won't allow people to search by publisher. You may want to use Fiction DB or even the Harlequin site to narrow down your wishlist (though searching at Harlequin isn't always that easy even when you know what you are looking for )

Didn't they rename that line to Harlequin Romantic Suspense a few years ago? But it could be that Blossom was saying it was a better line when it first rolled out - and it was called SIM back then.

The Silhouette Intimate Moments line eventually became Silhouette Romantic Suspense in Feb 2007 and then Harlequin Romantic Suspense in April 2011.
