Collections, how not to lose them?

Just use it as normal.

I can assure you that is not the expected or default outcome.

It's like saying "ZOMG, my Kindle froze" and then asking if anyone knows how to use a Kindle without it automatically freezing.

Indeed, I turn on the Wi-Fi every once in a while and nothing happened to my Collections.

It happened when this Kindle had WiFi turned in to purchase/download an eBook from Amazon. As you can also see, Josieb1 also had the same collections problem.

Your two anecdotes versus the millions of people who have not had this problem.

I suspect if this was a legitimate concern we would have a few more reports

and Amazon would be the laughingstock of the ereading world.

It's not difficult to figure out what happened. Clearly, something went wrong! That does not mean it is the nature of a Kindle to do this.

Occasionally things go wrong. Responsible individuals recognize this, deal with it, complain to Amazon, whatever... and file it under "something to become worried about if it turns out to be reproducible or a widespread problem".

Isn't there an option to download collections on your kindle? I got a new device and was able to download the same collections that I was using on my previous device.

When it happened to me suddenly one collecton vanished after a sync, I realised as I suddenly had 50 pages on my home screen as the books were no longer in a collection. I agree it's not normal behaviour and as such it can't be planned for or circumvented. I guess it was just a glitch.

Indeed, I've never had this happen and I have 9 pages of collections running on my Kindle and leave wi-fi turned on all the time. It's a glitch, but not a commonality.

That won't stop someone posting new threads about it and spamming other, unrelated threads with comments about it as if its a common bug.....
