Ah ok. Just wondered because your screen name is so different from that on the cover. How long does it take to put a collection like the Steampunk books together?

I've updated my profile, with my real name, but I've been using oldcharliebrown for almost ten years with livejournal, so I stuck with that, for my profile byline.

A reprint anthology usually takes two to four weeks to compile, for the most part, which ranges from picking the stories, contracting for them, and then sequencing them. I don't write my own introductions, so that might add more time into the process, I suppose.

Ah ok. I wasn't saying that you couldn't call yourself whatever you wish for user name or something. Just that it led to my original question of what your exact role in the book was. That short a time? I'd have guessed it was quite a bit longer especially since Steampunk is a newer sub-genre than some. Of course I imagine modern tech like the net and such helps speed things along from what they used to be with having to wait for snail mail to arrive etc.

Steampunk has been around for some twenty-five years, maybe more, and there had been countless novels and short stories written. It was pretty easy, actually. If you have a good pool of authors to pull from it goes a lot quicker.

I didn't realize it had been around quite that long. I imagine more people have become aware of it via the net though. I mean paper ads and such can only reach the public so fast, but with internet it probably goes a lot faster. I like the genre. It's different without being too different.

Curse you, people who started this thread and kept this thread alive and kept posting suggestions and stuff. Today, I bought a book of steampunk paper dolls and a book of steampunk craft/DIY ideas. And I bought 2-3 (I lose track ) steampunk anthologies in the past few weeks.

Now to read them.

Steampunk Vixens Paper Dolls, a Dover Publications book. I may have purchased Steampunk Paper Dolls, another Dover book, last week from the exact same store. And steampunk coloring books. And a dirigible. OK, just kidding, they were out of dirigibles...

Voilà! A set of printable PDF dirigibles (scroll down a bit) to go with your steampunk paper dolls*, free courtesy of the excellent and recommended multiple times upthread Girl Genius comics).

* And for more steampunk paper dolls†, they've got an entire page of them to go with your printable PDF dirigibles.

† May not be to scale for going adventuring together.

It's fun isn't it? To read about such unusual adventures I mean.

Yep. I'd rather be guilty of encouraging people to read than many other things I could be accused of.

There is a Steampunk Bundle at the Groupees site, minimum purchase is $2, with the option to donate some of the payment to charity. It is available for just 1 day and 16 hours more.
I pondered whether this was a legit deal to share here, since the books in the bundle are self-published, but I don't think that prohibition applies to this thread, and I also don't have any connection to the writers/artists or bundle site, so my post is not self-promotion. This bundle is a combination of games, music, ebooks and comics. The files are DRM free and the books are available as mobi, epub and pdf files. The comics are PDF files.

I actually bought their Steampunk 2 bundle last time around!
Think I'll grab this one since it comes with the recommended (from here) Rainroad! series.

Adding:
(Looking through the last bundle, I'm positive I grabbed it for the PC Games Siberia 1 & 2 since they have been compared to The Longest Journey.)
