Here's a small video demonstrating the problem:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43qanw0bYRc
I first show that I'm running the latest version, and then I perform the same task 11 times (trying to go one step back from the update screen to settings). 3 times the tap registered is on "home" button.

On my M96, cell standby was eating up a lot of battery, however, after disabling mobile data & a reboot, it disappeared from battery usage.

I guess my M96 must be blessed by the stars...

I wouldn't call that "adapting", we all have different ways of using devices. In my case I was used to select the text with my finger "a little below" the word (in both PW2 or AURA HD), and even in those two devices sometimes the selection fails. Now in T68 I select the text "a little above" and selection never fails.
I'm recording some videos where everybody will be able to see what I'm talking about...

And I'm not saying that your device didn't fail...

Ok. But then, again, why not get rid of them if they are not needed?

The one that Booxtor sells.

I also have an M96.
The difference is that you need to use the pen to select "things", in T68 you use your fingers.
That's one of the reasons M96 will never have the "screen accuracy issue".

I did both actually, disable mobile data + rename the APKs.

After a while, when I confirmed, that cell standby battery usage is gone, i renamed the APKs back to their original names to check again. Cell standby was still staying away from the battery. I never really felt the need to rename them again, so haven't.

Actually, I have some hits & misses even on the M96. A lot of times, I have to tap again, or try a different place for the tap to register. The software revisions from July till Sept haven't made the accuracy 100%, but I can live with ~97.5%.

Say, is anyone using the landscape mode to read PDFs in the default reader? After the latest update from Sept 26th, in landscape mode, the PDFs seem to be horribly affected by ghosting/artifacts/remnants of the previous page. Sometimes the sides of the documents are just missing/blank. The reader also seems to get stuck/non responsive. Especially when the next page contains a diagram. No problem at all in portrait mode.

I'm just warming up to the landscape mode, so can't say whether it was working fine in the earlier releases.

This happens a lot in Moon+. After not having touched anything for 30", it misses the first tap. And it's not even limited to the screen. Buttons also need a second click to work.

My apologies. After recently upgrading to the software release from Sept 26th, cell standby has indeed returned with a vengeance, eating up 49% battery, despite Airplane Mode being On & Mobile Data being Off. Guess I was too smug to recheck.

Just renamed (/system/app/) Phone.apk & TelephonyProviders.apk files. I hope it'll go away.

EDIT: Apart from Cell Standby, other contributors are Screen, Device Idle, WiFi & Android OS.

Ok...
I only did cut/paste from the system folder to another one...

I don't really use M96 too much. At the moment I'm focussed on T68, so I can't tell you about any issue on landscape, I always use portrait

I will hereby describe one instance of the touch inaccuracy problem, so that we are all on the same page. I've already opened a ticket with Onyx, and 3 days ago (just before the update came out) they asked me to be patient because they'll try to fix the general issue. Today I asked if the 1.6.4 update was supposed to be the one that fixes it, and stated that it didn't do much for me.

Anyway, here's the example:
Quote:
While viewing PDFs (using Neo reader), I want to highlight some text.
1. when I tap-and-hold on a word, in order to start highlighting, the perceived (by the ereader) tap may change position. Although I do not move my finger, the registered tap (which I can see thanks to the developer option to show taps) does move. This causes Neo Reader to not understand that I'm trying to highlight something. In other programs this is perceived as the user trying to pan around.

2. When I do manage to start highlighting, and just one word is selected, I have to drag the little markers (one of the two) to adjust the selected text. It is very difficult to grab those markers because the tap may be registered above or below my actual tap, and even if it registers correctly, it may still move while I'm keeping it steady (like in 1.) which causes problems.

It must be noted, though, that sometimes the whole process works flawlessly! Other times (on the same device, just a few moments later) it becomes almost impossible to correctly make a highlight. Repeated efforts still lead to failure, causing frustration to the user. A few seconds later everything may work fine again.

I believe that the T68 is the most complete and versatile reader out there right now, and if the screen inaccuracy issue was fixed it would be unarguably the best.

I assume this doesn't apply for the Lynx version? I don't have any of those options. I can go into Settings, and choose "Network" from the list on the left sidebar. From within "Network" I have 3 choices: "Wi-Fi" with a checkbox to turn on Wi-Fi on the device, then "Wireless" which does nothing if Wi-Fi is not turned on. If Wi-Fi is turned on, I can see available wireless networks when I tap "Wireless" From within the "Wireless" screen, there is another menu, with an option for "Advanced". In the "Advanced" screen, I have 4 choices "Network Notification", "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" and 2 other other list items one for my Mac address and one for my IP Address. I also have an option for "Bluetooth".

No where is there an option to turn mobile data on or off.

Hi Shari,

These are the 'ONYX' settings. You need to go into 'ANDROID' settings.

You should have a way to access all the applications installed on your Lynx. One of those icons would be 'Settings'. Go there, it should present you with the third option as 'Data Usage' & therein, the first option is 'Mobile Data'.

Its pretty much standard on all Android devices.

It's not on the Lynx version. If you install a launcher app like Nova Launcher you can get to standard settings.

Yeap I agree... It looks like not many people need this, so technology is almost stuck.

I see that some steps have been made by Onyx. Neo reader can highlight reflowed pdfs, while moon+ can't. It's a pity. I wonder how useful comments and highlights are if they can't leave your reader.

But I'm not complaining. Touch accuracy is what's killing me..

Booxtor, maybe you should get rid of those apps the next time you compile the ROM.
I haven't notice anything going wrong since I got rid of them...
How can I erase them or rename, do I have to download a file explorer and be root (because I'm not)
