				How to save a search...

			I'm sure I'm just doing something wrong, or missing something, but I can't save any searches. Could someone walk me through.

	I decided to try this today. I often do a search and replace, changing Mr for Mr. (adding the period) and Mrs for Mrs. I right-clicked in the search area and selected 'Save Current Search'. The window came up and asked to name the search, which I did. I just can't seem to find how to actually SAVE it. What am I not seeing? It's probably the silliest thing... |

			See, I've clicked that (if you're referring to the 'Done' button), yet nothing gets saved. It doesn't give me an error, but if I come back later, there is nothing in the saved searches list.

	Sorry, I just noticed that during my editing, that paragraph was removed from my original post. |

			@MerlinMama - They should get saved in the "saved_searches": [...] section of the tweak_book_gui.json file in the calibre configuration folder.

	Have look to see if they're there. BR |

			Yes, it's in there, but the saved searches list shows nothing. What did I do wrong for that to happen?

 Close the editor, rename that file to tweak_book_gui.json.save, start the editor and try again If its there now, then this will be the second instance in the last couple of days where something has gone awry with a json file - the other one was gui.json. And I have a vague recollection that someone had a problem with something not being written to the viewer.json file. If you post the tweak_book_gui.json.save file here (you'll have to zip it) someone might be able to spot what's wrong with it. Meantime I would eyeball the *.save file as the basis for reconfiguring the editor. You could copy and paste, but you might copy the 'bug'. I don't think the changes made in 2.4 are the cause of of the problem, because my saved searches from earlier versions are there, and I was able to edit them and add some new ones. BR |

			A .7z can't be posted here <sigh>, but 7-zip can create a zip - not sure what box you have to tick as I don't have 7-zip. But this person knows ==>> Creating a ZIP archive using 7zip - YouTube

			In Saved Searches, click [Add Search], construct the search parameters and then click [Done]

			That doesn't run the search, but adds it to the list. Next time into Saved Searches the new one should be there and you can run it |

			Thank you for your reply, however as you can see from subsequent posts, I did that, but still saved searches still didn't show up.

I understood you to say that when you first looked at the tweak_book_gui.json file the "saved_searches": entry was empty as in Code:
	"saved_searches": [ ], ![]() BR  |

 Now I'm not sure anymore. Ugh. Anyway, yes it all works fine, and if I add new and they don't show up, I'll make a mention. I think I'll go make up a search to save, just to see...LOL |
