I know its possible to hyperlink to webpages, this opens up your browser "no problem"
I would like to hyperlink to images on my laptop (not in the epup file) so they open in an external program. e.g. link to a jpeg in "My Documents" of a map and have it open in "Windows Photo Viewer" Is this possible??? Thanks |

Not everyone runs Windows. Not all devices are connected to the internet. It would only go to your laptop where the pictures are.
Why bother with epub when you can make a web page that will do the job? |

@RKEP71 - you need to put a file uri into the Link Target box as in "file:///E:\Documents\My Pictures\Map.jpg" that will insert the following into the code. Code:
<a href="E:\Documents\My Pictures\Map.jpg">|</a> In your EPUB viewer click on My Map and up it should pop in Windows Photo Viewer, assuming that's your default viewer for images BR |

Didn't the OP want to have the outside file launched with an outside program?

BR - I have been playing around with your advice. It seems file:/// has to be capitals FILE:///
I am now in business, thanks again |

No http:// is lowercase, weird eh!
The viewer I'm using is the original (last update) Sony Reader Library 3.3.00.07130. It may not have all the features but the view you see is exactly the same as the view you'll get on the PRS-T1 which helps a great deal when designing/editing your e-books. RKEP71 |

This is a similar question I have my folders in
Images Styles Text Videos I have lots of videos that make the epub too big so can I create a folder called Notes_on_script and point to the xhtml file from within the main page i.e change <p class="para1"><span class="span7"><a href="../Text/Notes_on_Script.xhtml" to point to the same file but in the new Notes on script folder to something like <p class="para1"><span class="span7"><a href="../Notes_on_script/Notes_on_Script.xhtml" Last edited by increase; 11-28-2024 at 04:13 PM. |

You bumped a 10 year old thread?
If you are building epub3, video resources can be stored on a separate web server and the resource is marked as external to the epub. But this has nothing to do with Sigil itself. It is a general epub question. You should ask your question in our epub forum and not here so that more people both can see and possibly respond to your question. |
