I cannot seem to find anything that allows me to mark books as read- I know some folk have it as it has been mentioned in other forums - am I missing something obvious?

You can create a custom column "Read" of type Yes/No and set each book to Read.

Using Calibre Companion (Android app) is the only thing I can think of for automatically populating the column. |

Adding a new colum is a good solution.

Although I have to say that I prefer to using the ratings-column. If I've read a book then it will be rated, if I haven't the rating will be zero/unset. |

I use a Date_Read column as I like to reread some of my 4 or 5 Star books

As you can see. dozens of ways. Pick yours (BTW Except for Calibre companion users, most require manual updates unless the Device driver offers the feature) |

One problem with using the rating is that some books import with a rating. Depends on what metadata has been saved for them.

Preferences: Configure Metadata Download (Global or by selected source): Remove the Tick next to rating Unfortunately, you don't get those same choices when Adding Books. If it is IN the books OPF, it WILL be added to the DB during the add, the Metadata reader PI is not configurable. |
