Actually it's not all gloom & doom, & certainly not THAT dangerous. But I believe people should be aware of the risks involved before they take into account the benefits.

The M96 has a recovery which you can boot into if the Booxtor ROM doesn't work. From there you can manually flash a copy of your original RAM (please download one from Artatech/Onyx website beforehand).

Every once in a while I manage to scare people, you were just the latest victim. That's all.

Damn... I've been running it on USB power all this time. Unplugged it and my taps are all over the place (battery at 79%)
Well, not completely unusable but pretty annoying... I have 2 weeks to judge it

The Lynx had a firmware update which (for many people at least, me included) fixed the touchscreen issues, but unfortunately they seem to be present to a much greater extent with the Onyx International version of the device.

So, I abandoned Neo reader because of this bug which has been reported 1.5 months ago:

I had the Lynx and the update did not help mine at all.

What's the deal with FBReader on this device?
It is pre-installed as a system app, but has been modified so it can't be updated through play. Also if I install the pdf plugin for the app it's not recognized...

Only solution is to root and remove the app, then install it from play I guess, huh?

Dear Booxtor, is there any update planned for fixing screen accuracy? It looks like many people still have problems, including me. If not I'll probably return my reader as it's very annoying to work with it at the moment...


Pity, it's such a nice device otherwise. And the real alternative (Icarus Illumina) has smaller screen, battery drain problems and uneven frontlight.


On another note, has anyone actually done the switch from international to lynx? I want to see if my problem is due to hardware or software, but I don't want to gamble with the device that I'm planning on returning to the store!

I have a Lynx device w/ the same issue and switching from Lynx firmware to Booxtor didn't do anything to improve the accuracy.
The probability is high that you moving to Lynx firmware won't fix it.

The Lynx update certainly fixed it for many of us, whereas I haven't heard anyone say that the Onyx International updates fixed it for them.

Then it's probably hardware issue. If mine is too I'll return the device for an exchange.

For some Lynx users all is good, so there is hope..
