(Raises hand):

Nerve dying, abscessed tooth, UNDER a $6K bridge that, no, insurance did not pay for, about 7 or so years back. Root canal, and, of course, has to be done by specialists (Endodontists) to try to "save the bridge," so I don't have to buy another one, (that insurance won't cover).

I win the misery contest today. Not to take Pooh's rightful sympathy, but I think that wins.

P.S.: oh, Pooh! I'm sorry, that's mizzable. Downright mizzable.

@Pooh: Well, you can (and shall) recover from a flu, no matter how horrid. I'm 99.99% sure that recovering from an abscess is not in the cards, dammit.

@CovingtonCat: thanks. I appreciate it.

Funny part is, as miserable as the pain is making me, (and as dopey the pain meds) it's the damn MONEY and inconvenience and time that irks me most! ;-)

I've had enamel teeth and I've had plastic teeth. I've had a whole lot less trouble (and expense) with the plastic ones.

And I'm certain that nurse Goldie cat looked quite fetching in sweats and multiple layers of other clothes

We are getting our first drenching rain of fall which is almost a relief as we were still getting into the 80s as recently as last weekend. It's not that I couldn't wait for it to rain, I was concerned that we might truly be in a warming cock up.

I put a tv in my room for the first time for recovering from the surgery. I have dog tv on in the background which I quite often do when I'm working on other things around the house, I also leave it on when Aragorn is home alone, and quite often for the kitties as well. I've come in quite a few times to find Arwen cat perched on the table or a chair absolutely riveted. Well Aragorn is kind of hot and cold with his responses. I'm not sure what it is about the programing today, but he was going nuts! He's been barking, whining and doing play bows. He also keeps running around to the back of the tv, he couldn't with the other one as it's against a wall, looking for the doggies. He has spent a fair amount of time looking at and sniffing the cables that go into the box. Interesting thought process. I'd love to know what's going on in there!

@Pooh: Sorry you're sick, though it's rather early in the season for flu. Whatever, I hope you recover quickly. Drink lots of fluids (Talisker is a fluid!), take aspirin for fever/aches, and REST.

@Hitch: Really sorry about your root canals. I've had two, and both were wonderful. Because when they were done, I didn't have any more pain!

@kk: Funny. Of our two Cavaliers, one ignores the TV completely, the other ignores dogs on the TV, but goes into serious "defend the property" mode when lions, horses or cows are on the screen. Lions I get, but COWS??

Get well soon, poohbear_nc.

Good luck at the dentist, Hitch. I had a tooth pulled a year ago due to an abscess. An abscess is nothing to fool around with!

Good luck holding down the fort, kindlekitten. My old German shepherd would just get into weird moods, sometimes. But I never smelled strange cooking.

Funny thing with cows and horses, and I didn't learn this until relatively late in my horse career, probably 95% of the horses I had been around until I was 18 were farm/ranch horses, and even if they weren't working, they were around cattle and there were no issues. It wasn't until my daughter and I started showing Draft Horses that I found out that hanging out with cattle isn't necessarily on a horses bucket list. I saw more than a few "hitches" (teams) come unglued when cattle came by. When you're working with a hitch it's unspoken that you are in the first line of catch sooth and repair equipment if you aren't actually driving a team at the moment. I gotta tell ya' it's humbling to see 4 to 8 one ton creatures attached to a conveyance that is close to that weight come unglued and try to go in as many different directions as possible! *whew*

So, yeah, cows

Ups and Downs

Told mother yesterday (tuesday) I was leaving today (wednesday) to fly back to Canada. She was convinced I was leaving Thursday so was a bit miserable.

She was concerned as to how I would get to Heathrow. Sister told her she and I had talked last week and would get something arranged.

Based on 6pm flight and my wanting to be their in lots of time (3pm) she decided it was easiest to drive (around 2 hours) so left around 11 am.

Some concern in that her car had made some nasty noises yesterday.....

Got to Heathrow by 1pm!!!!!! with no car issues. Possible that the issue was a tool left in the engine after some work last week which fell out.

Learn flight is 4 hours late!!!!! and while there was a 3pm flight it had filled a few minutes ago

So now twiddling thumbs in T2 and will at some point use £10 meal voucher.

Oh well!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Heathrow and the British Airports Authority! Last time we flew from there the flight was delayed by 8 hours. Not fun when you have 3 young kids to keep amused for that length of time...

Have a safe flight (eventually).

Safe flight. Spending time in airports is among my least favourite places to waste time. But at least you can usually get food that isn't (quite) toxic.
