Kobo and their glitches; it's a right old infestation

In the beginning I never got the contest notices and then one day, out of the blue, I started getting them. No idea what changed

15 books bought so far for September and only one of them from Kobo; like my friend likes to say, "the struggle is real".

For those interested in testing the latest Calibre plugin, perhaps if you buy a book this Contest you could hold off downloading the epub - instead test out the kepub in Calibre.

Has anyone ever had the experience of not being able to download or open a Kobo book that is in your library?

The reason that I'm asking is that there is a book in my library that I want to read, but it does not have a blue bar on the right, that (all? of) the other books have which says either "Adobe DRM download" or "Download ePub." Clicking on one of them is the way that I've always been able to read a Kobo book before. I've looked for other ways to open the book, to no avail.

One thing that I refuse to do is to contact Kobo's "Customer Care." I had an issue (I wanted to change credit cards from one that I had been using to another one, and their website wasn't letting me) about a month ago that seemed like it would be easy enough to fix and, despite a dozen or more emails going back and forth, they seemed incapable of fixing it. The last email message that I got from them was in Dutch or Norwegian or Icelandic or something (I speak English). I decided to just drop the matter.

That's a kepub.
There's ways to download it (involves using the desktop app and obok).
If you don't want to go that route, you can contact customer care* and ask for a refund.

*I know you said you didn't want to, but it is an option to get your money back. If you go through their live chat option, they are extremely fast and friendly.

I checked their website recently, and the chat is no longer there as an option. Now you have to fill out an e-mail form and then you get a pop up window with a phone option you can use instead. It looks like you have to use the form to even get the phone number. (I hope I'm wrong about this.)

If it works like other websites I've seen, the chat option is only visible during the hours they staff it. Check back in later during whatever their regular business hours might be....

I recommend calling customer service. I had to do it twice in just the last couple weeks and they were very nice and refunded my money as a store credit.
