The problem with the Voyage as I see it is that if you have the buttons on, it will be too easy to accidentally change the page due to pressing the buttons since they sit where you'd hold the Voyage to use the touch screen.
You can set the amount of pressure needed to activate the page turn buttons.

The PRS-950 was rather ergonomic too. I liked the way the bottom row of buttons still worked well for turning pages even in landscape. And I really loved the two-column landscape mode which worked very well with the 7" screen.

They are features that not everyone wants, but you sound foolish when you make the jump from "you don't want one" to "nobody wants it".

I've been using a kobo aura hd for a year and didn't even consider going to the H20 because its additions were unattractive to me. When the Voyage came out, I instantly gave the Kobo to my father and pre-ordered one because its features were just what I had been waiting for.

A year from now we can discuss if Amazon or Kobo was right. Or perhaps they both are.
I did precisely NOT that! I even wrote that At the end of my comment. I was pointing out that it's a strange move for Amazon to separate dedicated from "undedicated" readers instead of "raising the bottom line" for everyone according to random criteria.

Jguogen seems to have discontinued his Calibre plugins for the Kobo readers. They would be essential to make use of the reader like I want. The reason for quitting seems to be general dissatisfaction with Kobo and their (seemingly) non-existent customer service. I guess the H2O is out as well. Seeing that I'll probably skip the Voyage as well, it could be that I'll be using my KPW for yet another year.

Um, no this isn't a Sony exclusive. Kobo has this on all touch devices (actually you can use either tap or swipe)

You can swipe or tap on kindles too. You can also turn off the page turn buttons on the voyage according to the manual.

I have a k3 with keyboard. Voyager is tempting as I would love the Backlight. Do you suppose that I will be able to sideload books as I do now? And will furthest page read still sync across devices?

No eInk device has a backlight, for the very simple reason that an eInk screen is completely opaque. They have a frontlight.

Yes, you can still sideload books.

Yes, it will still sync.

While he might have stopped active development this does not mean that others will not make fixes as needed.

That's up to you.

Trust me... bugs WILL be fixed.

The changes for QT5 were implemented far quicker than they were for some supposedly supported plugins.

What do these plugins actually do? I have done some searches but can't find anything - but this could be becoz I'm right now behind the Great Fire Wall.
