We'll it took less than 24 hours to weaken but I've ordered mine, a wifi only. Hubby will get my 6 month old 3G PW2 and we'll try and sell his PW1 on ebay.

You probably should have included the Kobo H2O as an option in the poll. I'm waiting for screen comparisons to come out. If the screens are about the same I am more interested in the larger reading area, expandability and capacity offered by the H2O than in the light sensor and side buttons of the Voyage.

![]() What about the Aura H2O, are you leaving it for now or will you consider getting it too? Edit: Just read your post in the thread on the news forum, so I'm guessing once WH Misth actually get some stock of the H2O, your resistance might crumble again! If the Voyage had been a little cheaper, I might have tried to sell my PW2 and get it, but as it is, I am going to be very good and just stick with my PW2 (for now). I however find this interesting that the Voyage is leading by such high a margin. Personally I am still considering my position, nothing is locked in stone as yet. ![]() |

I love my PW2 (even the name itself) and would not upgrade to Voyage, which doesn't have any significant improvements.

I am going to upgrade to the Voyage as soon as it has a regular buy button. I can't use my Amazon points on pre-orders so I'll wait.
I will upgrade from my PW1 which isn't so great. I didn't end up with a good screen and I didn't update to the PW2 last year as at the time I didn't have that in the budget. I am glad now since I have a nice amount of points saved up to make this price tag less painful. I am all for a more high end readers with all it does. And the page press thingies are awesome. I always missed my page buttons on my PW. I also have to say that my PW1 became almost unusable with that last big update it got. It is so slow its horrible. Even changing pages it way slow. It can take anywhere from 2-4 seconds to change pages. Might not sound like much, but try it and count as you turn pages. Sometimes I have to keep pecking at it just to make it go. So I am in need of a new kindle with light. I have the basic which is really nice, but it gets dreary inside and starting in the evening. They should have kept that basic. The screen is so clear with no extra layer on it like they are now putting on the new one. And its so light and it has the reading bar and page buttons. That is all going to be gone now. I am really kind of sad that there will not be a pure e-ink kindle anymore. By pure I mean the pure screen with no layers on it. It does make a difference. The fonts just lay on top on the basic, on the PW, they are kind of in a window. But I guess that is all we are going to have now since they adding the touch layer on the basic now. |

Actually, the new Basic Kindle with the touchscreen doesn't introduce any extra layers. The technology for the touch on the basic is infrared--which is invisible infrared beams placed above the screen. When something breaks the beam layer, it registers as a touch. I have an Aura HD, Sony PRS-650, Sony PRS-350--all of which have IR touch technology. Works very well and screens are very clear.

Voyage. The 300 dpi plus page turn sensors are the main reason. I am mostly happy with my Paperwhite (1st gen), but those are two areas I'd really like to improve on.

I'm going to upgrade to the Voyage.
I'm planning a trip to Newcastle for late November or early December and I've just emailed Waterstones if I can use their Reserve and Collect feature for the new Kindle (me being Dutch). |

I have a short tale that relates to the decision of to upgrade or not. Two years ago I was using a one year old Kindle 3, when its on/off button broke and I needed to get it replaced quickly since I never want to be without some books. I went off to a local Radio Shack and all they had for me was a basic Kindle, which at the time did not impress me at all. So with that in hand and safe for the moment I ordered a Paper white, the one that is showing me ebooks now. I really hate to be without some sort of books so I am going to get a second reader in case the first one breaks down at some point, its a matter of which one do I want to use as a secondary. When I am going back and forth to work I frequently read in the dark, a darken buss or at the buss stop (I am at the buss stop before the sun is up). However I might get the basic because I never read at home without some light, I never read in bed, as my doctor said that insomniacs like me need to think of the bed as used for two things, sleeping and rolling in the hay with my wife. Never read there my doctor advised me.

The fact that the Voyage has added buttons for page turning and still kept the touchscreen makes it intriguing for me, but can't justify purchasing one as I have a KPW2 and an AuraHD that's only a little over a month old. |

I'm tempted by the Voyage because it has both touch screen and buttons -- but I'm worried about the lit up screen. My eyes really like the old e-ink style of my K4 and previous versions. So I don't think I'll get anything until I can test the lit screen (and even in a store, I can't test what 6-8 hrs of reading will do to my eyes!) |
