True, but they haven't changed the margin or line spacing options in years, if ever. I think a lot of us wish they would add more options, at least that gets voiced a lot in threads.

I know. I want smaller margins and thiner line spacings. That was one thing I really liked when I went to the Kobo.

No font customization? That does it. I'm skipping this upgrade. Again.

212 to 300 dpi is nice-ish, but not really required for me. My poor eyesight prohibits me from seeing improvements above 160 dpi or so. I don't really need page press buttons, and the software upgrades are gimmicks to me.

As soon as it is available in German stores, I'll go take a look at a Kobo H2O. The hardware and options look much better to me.

Yeah I totally agree. I would also like a more reasonable choice of font sizes (and fonts too of course). Some of the font sizes change drastically between options rather than allowing us to fine tune the size. Seems like they could give us point size options within a reasonable range rather than just eight static choices.

It's my biggest gripe with amazon kindles. Why, oh why, won't they simply give us more options? Fonts, margins, line spacing, etc. They're fairly basic options and it's such simple addition. It's really hard to understand why they're so resistant. The competition has a big advantage in those areas.

I'd consider the new Kobo, but I want the the page turn buttons on the voyager and the higher ppi, plus the amazon software. So I'll stick with kindle, but alas..

Agree! Even if they would just open it up for modifications like they use to in older models. The K3 Keyboard was fairly easy to hack as far as margins. The Sony PRS x00 and x50 models were fairly easy to hack for additional fonts. Heck Amazon could even make money by selling FW add-ons--I would pay more to get more fonts and formatting options. Yeah I know there are a lot of folks here griping about the $200 price of the Voyage, but many of us paid over $300 several years ago for our first eInk readers, so $200 is still way less, especially if you factor in inflation for the past several years.

Exactly. Plus, if you add in the number of hours of use we plan to get out of it, it feels even cheaper.

edit: this does NOT apply to the K1. But the later kindle-keyboard should work as I've described.
But if I need to put it down for 10 seconds before I pick it up again it's very inconvenient to put the screen saver on. Also because of disability issues I don't ever hold my readers or tablets. I rest them on my legs so if I need to move it the kindle was the only one with super sensitive page turn buttons that turn the page on me when I didn't want to.

Ok. Any of them newer than the very 1st kindle ought to behave okay for you. With the K3 with keyboard, I believe if you touch it in the "aisle" or "alley" down the middle of the keyboard you should be okay. Are you experiencing something I'm not thinking of?

Or maybe you'd prefer the touch-screen ones, with no turn buttons at all. (the ones I'm griping about!)

I want what you gripe about!

Every other device I have gets picked up by grasping the side and it's much easier for me to pick it up that way. So of course I pick up the kindle the same way and that's where my problem is. I try to pick it up wrong. Kind of like iPhone users being told they're holding the phone wrong?

I really love the kindle touch, it's the model I have.

Only the 1 home button, which goes to the home screen of course. So there is nothing on the bezel is going to affect what page you are on in your book.

Are those "squeeze censors" the only way to turn the page on the Voyage? Or does it still have a touch screen? I guess it must be a touch screen for notes and highlighting, menus, x-ray and stuff.

No, you can still use the touch screen to turn the page. You can even turn OFF the squeeze sensors and use only the touch screen.

From what I've read, you can deactivate the "squeeze sensors" and just touch the screen.

I still have the invoice for my original Cybook Gen3 back in 2007. Cybook + cover + S&H: €405,=

Yes, that's euros, not dollars.

I wonder if Kindle Voyage readers will have to suffer through the same tiny maps and pictures that we have to on the Aura HD now that they have a super high resolution display? Unfortunately the ebooks just aren't keeping pace to the readers. Start putting high(er) resolution photos in your ebooks, publishers!
