Still not available to order in the UK. If kobo don't hurry up Amazon will announce the new paperwhite and I'll end up buying that. I really want to try the H2o tough.

13 days left!!

After seeing the ads for Amazon's new Voyage, I'm doubly glad I pre-ordered the H2O.

Out of curiosity, why? While I'm no fan of Amazon's ebook ecosystem, on paper the Voyager looks like a quality e-reader and fairly worthy competition to the H2O... although I note that Amazon did not move towards IP67 certification.

I'm unsure whether the Voyager is worth a $38CDN premium over the H2O though, so there is that.

It's just a thought exercise for me. I'm a Kobo fan through and through. Doubt I'll ever buy a Kindle unless they're the only e-ink option left.

My reasons: bigger screen, waterproofing, ePub support, customizable fonts, book covers as screensaver, cheaper price

And one petty reason: Amazon snubbed Canadians by only selling the Paperwhite 5 MONTHS after US introduction, and are still doing it today. This isn't the case for the UK.

Mainly I want the waterproofing. I read in the bath plus when I go on holiday it will be lovely to read sitting in the water without worrying,

2 words - bigger screen!! It makes all the difference to the reading experience, IMHO. So much so that I don't think I can ever go back to a smaller screen reader.

On an unrelated note, Amazon's pricing on the Voyage is curious. Not sure I understand it given the fairly benign new features. Again, just my opinion, which doesn't count for anything!

The way reviewers swoon over Apples aluminum frames and now Amazon's Voyage I want to see deflection tests to see if it is more rigid and better resists twisting than other readers.

It's like Christmas. I need to write a song about numerated quantities of readers reading and birds covorting.

I'm glad they priced it so high. Otherwise I might have ordered one.

I still plan to order the H2O. I want the Carta screen.

I agree with you.....the Kobo is so much better than the Kindle, to me. I was still caught up in the frenzy....that 300 dpi is so tempting. The price sucked the wind right out of my sails and brought a return to sanity. Kobo all the way!

Yeah, '300 dpi' feels like some kind of watershed, doesn't it? The resolution of the first laser printers . Even so, I haven't canceled my H2O preorder either. I am not going back to a 6" screen (actually, I'm still eyeing the Onyx Boox i86. Hi-res 8" and Android...hmmm...)

Interesting the large screen is one thing that me turn me off. I currently read on a Sony 650 which I carry in my handbag, I'm concerned the h2O is going to big for me to carry around in there.

I'm visiting the US in November/December(first time very excited) and I'm hoping to have a look at the H2O in person which other stores other than best buy usually carry Kobo's also any estimates on the store price would be appreciated.

On another note would the Kobo Carta screen be a huge improvement over pearl? I can still source the sony T3 own here so that's the other device on my short list.
