This is as I slowly go crazy spending two weeks with my elderly mother who has poor eyesight, poor hearing, terrible memory so she asks every two minutes whether the TV is too loud, or tells me that if I just chewed my food longer I would loose weight.

Ugh. No fever anymore and my throat hurt much less but I still don't really have my voice back and am still coughing stuff up. I still feel bad about being off work. Also, yesrerday, neither the doctor or the pharmacy let me know the doc had called in an antibiotic prescription. It took 3 calls to the doctor to find out.

unfortunately I have to inform you that further responses from our companys owner regarding regarding your book will be delayed until further notice due to the fact that she had a work-related accident.

Whilst you may wonder how in the business of ebook making such accident is even remotely possible, allow me to explain that she choked on her coffee, dropped her mug and stumbled because of the resulting puddle of spilled coffee. As all of this happened while she read your last mail it is clearly a work-related accident.

As covering the costs for the resulting leg fracture and psychological counsel is still to be taken care of, you will receive a separate email with detailed billing from our accounting department.

Just bothered by Barnes & Noble's stupid decision to prevent me from continuing to access material I have purchased. (Well, to make it more complicated.) The world seems to be rushing more and more quickly into a future where I pay for things I can't own.

@Hitch: Gotta love 'em. And you definitely have to be glad that you're a business run on email, not a store front. Think of the liability insurance you'd have to carry to cover your beating this customer with a tire iron?

The student nurses looked at the SF fans with "I wonder if they'll get sick and require nursing?" gazes. The psychiatrists looked at the fans guessing about what sort of sick they were.

MillPhil, the 2001 World SF Convention in Philadelphia, shared the convention center with some church group. One of my friends is tall, with wavy brown hair and a mustache and beard. He was dressed in Jedi robes for a costume event. At one point during the con, he discovered an old black woman kneeling by his feet and clutching his robes, saying "I know you! I know you!" She apparently thought he was Jesus in the second coming. (It appeared she wasn't part of the church group, but was one of the local crazy people.)

I think my friend is still living it down.

My foot hurts.

Despite having an (anti) blister patch on I did manage to get a blister on Wednesday. I drained it and on Thursday put another patch on it. However, doing the Newcastle highlight walking tour might not have been a good idea. A great portion of the walk was over very irregular cobble stones (the round type). In the morning it wasn't a big blister, though a deep one. But at night it had become bigger.

Luckily last night and today I got to take it easy (travelling home). But walking stairs isn't fun and tomorrow I have to work all day and our store is split level with a 3 step stair. I'm not looking forward to it!

Just got the bill for my new knee, 124 k. Last one I didn't have to pay anything and it's the same insurance company. Thanks for nothing obamacare

Well Sunday and Monday (and Tuesday morning) should be fun. My sister and partner are heading off for those days leaving me in rural Suffolk to stay with Mum.

Here's hoping I survive.

Of course, Wednesday I make the trek to Heathrow and back to Toronto.

Ack! Bird flu! The chicken variety!

Whilst eating lunch today, I suddenly realized that I felt awful - sore throat, fever, body aches - even my eyes began to ache! Hit me out of nowhere!

So I'm home, munching on toast and other tasteless treats and drinking gallons of water/club soda/etc. Attended by my 'nurse cat' Goldie. Wearing sweat pants & 3 layers of shirts .... sigh .... *snivel*
