The page turn with haptic feedback removes one of my concerns about devices with flush screens, which is not knowing where to press to turn the page without looking. I find this a significant issue with my iPad Mini. Not a problem with the Nexus 7, because I can use the volume rocker on the side to turn the page.

I'd be really interested in it, but ... even once Amazon.com opens up international orders, $219 + shipping + customs + VAT would push the WiFi-only model up to a good $280-$285 for me even without a horrendously over-priced cover. (Hard to get a good estimate but shipping + customs + VAT would be $55 on the $139 Paperwhite, so I'm assuming it'll be higher for the Voyage.)
I do have a good friend moving to Germany in October, and he'll occasionally still be visiting, so, hmm. I'll have time to decide, but the German price of €189 on Amazon.de is looking a lot more sensible than the €250 that I'd otherwise have to pay. If I decide I want one after all - and it'd be really only for those page turn buttons! - then having him buy it and bring it over might be an option I'd actually consider seriously. |

It is interesting that they have kept the pw and not just slotted this model into that pricepoint, the person that suggested that amazon see this like the iwatch and being aimed more at their existing fans rather than new customers has probably got it spot on.
I can't say that the lack of waterproofing bothers me either way, but the improved screen and the return of page turn buttons are welcome additions. It is slightly odd that with whispersync for voice spreading onto other regional amazon sites now that they didn't include audio again, but maybe the reasoning is that people only read on their kindle and would use their phone for the audio to avoid the need to charge multiple devices daily rather than just the one. For those who have used them before, what do people think of the origami cases, I have liked the hard shell of the current paperwhite case even if I haven't tended to break one anyway. |

Good point, that might be why their new Fire's are so much more reasonably priced. I ordered the 6" and 7", I haven't decided yet but I am thinking I will be keeping the 6" and cancelling the 7" before it ships.

Is it just me or is the back design a bit strange? Interesting choice of power button placement. I'm also very interested in what people are going to say about the change in case material, I liked the more rubbery type of plastic casing.

Good to see physical buttons back but at £169, far too expensive!

Some interesting stuff in this article, including a description of how the auto-brightness stuff will actually work and despite generally disliking that feature elsewhere, it might actually make sense on a kindle with it gradually dimming while you read as you got used to the initial level of brightness.

I'd also like to know. I've just ordered a red leather one, but I'm a bit on fence because I so like the current PW case. The Belkin Voyage case looks similar to the PW case. Last edited by JoHunt; 09-18-2014 at 05:40 AM. |

After reviewing the Amazon specs on the Voyage I think that I've decided to give the Kobo H2O a try. I love my pw2 but frankly I've always had an issue with only having 2gigs of storage. I want a reference library of books available to me and with 4gigs on board and and a 32 gig card I can have it all. Insofar as the light sensor or even the side buttons those don't add a lot for me. I can see accidentally turning pages with the side buttons if you shift your hand. Thanks to Calibre I can transfer all of my Amazon books to the Kobo. If I go ahead with the change I'll report in on the experience.
