				New Kindle Voyage

I think that's why Amazon is still offering Paperwhites for less. It's a good thing to do: let people who want to upgrade to the fancy one with the high res screen and new page turn switches do so, but present a backlit option for those who don't want to pay as much. I've personally lately been upgrading devices only every other year, and with the amount of reading I do, this will be more than worth it. Others who read more casually may well find the price too steep. This year I am getting the Voyage and an iPhone 6. Won't upgrade again till 2016, most likely. Technology still advances, but not at the rate it once did. |

I'm not even interested in the PW. My 1st gen K4 still works great. Pity then didn't add some better features - waterproofing, flex screen, audio, and OverDrive.

This is Amazon's iWatch. Something for the hardened fans. I'll pass. For $200, I want bigger screen and audio. |

Sure is nicer than my first couple of eInk devices that were in the $300 range back in the day. |

I pre-ordered one but after thinking it over I came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth more than twice the price I paid for my PW2 four months ago. Had it been about the same price though I would probably been sucked in by the draught.

Amazon has made my decision easy, I will continue with my PW1, the new Voyage is not a entitling upgrade for me

Nothing about 'improved typography', unless the higher resolution qualifies. I never cared about page turn buttons, and given that they must use some energy to 'vibrate' wonder if it will affect time between charges significantly. Nor was auto-brightness on my wish list (I trust it is still possible to adjust the level manually). Probably don't have use for the additional storage, either. Flush screen, yes. Does it have a faster CPU than PW2? I didn't see any info on that. Thought it also had a way to flip through illustrations via some navigation feature (oh that is 'Expanded Xray', which is on all of the new Kindles as well as those they choose to update). No matter, I pre-ordered one. The screen and overall performance had better be significantly better than my PW1's, or I'll return it. As for the tablets, the only one that interests me at all is the 6" model, I think I would like the more compact form factor. For $119 (16GB please) I could see replacing my Fire HD2 (which has no cameras or mic, doesn't have IPS screen, dual rather than quad core CPU). Oh, and HD out (via SlimPort compatible USB). Especially if there is a Fire sale. Last edited by tomsem; 09-18-2014 at 01:44 AM. |

It looks interesting. I have to wait for the international version anyway, but I'm very interested in the reviews. I skipped both PWs because I wasn't convinced by reviews. Hopefully the Voyage does. |

Nothing on the UK site yet. I'm only interested in the price tbh, the new Kobo is much more enticing.

The "New Kindle" is basically the old Kindle Touch without audio. It's almost the same size (6.7"x4.7"x.4") and weight (6.7 oz.) as the old Kindle Touch. Which means it's heavier and bigger than the Kindle Basic. I have mixed emotions about it. First, this means that the Kindle Touch is back (with possibly -- probably) darker fonts. But it also means that the Kindle Basic is gone. I might have to pick up an extra one before they disappear. I'm guessing they'll be on clearance soon.

Wow this is the first year that I'm not impressed by the new Amazon eink reader. It might have to be the kobo h20 for me.
