On a Windows 8 you may of course install Callibre, Sigil, ADE.

But wich other applications are out there in the World for EPUB-format ?

Here in Germany you can get an app from e-book.de which is IMO not as good as the pendent for IOS. But it should work on RT as well.

SumatraPDF is also able to view ePubs --- that's what I've used thus far.

I've been using Freda on my Surface 2. It's kind of a nuisance to get it connected to my SkyDrive, but now that it is, the only problem I sometimes have is if I forget to create an ePub of a book I want to read. (Most of my books are bought as Kindle format, usually AZW3.)

SumatraPDF is excellent for reading PDFs, but it's pretty basic for ePubs. It has no search feature, no way of quickly jumping to the next / previous chapter, and no way of selecting text for copying to the clipboard. It also lacks advanced features like dictionary lookup, annotations, etc.

But if you just want to read a book without any of those features, it's fine.

Thanks for recommending this, I have loads of books in calibre and this app allows me to access them relatively painlessly(compared to some)
