Very nice!
So now I have one less file (screensaver.lua) to copy over when upgrading.
Four more to go ... ;o)

This is how I started too.
Then I thought it would be easier if i try to make these changes in a way that others could profit from this too, and now I have zero files I have to change after each release

Well, since my programming skills are zero, I can only help by beta-testing and pitching ideas.
Who knows, maybe one day ...

SOLVED.
I don't know what caused that upside down behavior.
I've made reset to the factory settings, then updated to 3.8.0, installed pbchess and koreader. And now I've got everything working properly...
Still don't know what's happened first time.

Calibre Companion plugin

Trying the Calibre Companion plugin in 728 with no luck.
I changed the Calibre's port to '8134' that is fixed in "\plugins\calibrecompanion.koplugin\main.lua" still "Cannot connect to Calibre"
Tried also with 'not fixed' port.
Any hints?

There is a hot fix on this: https://github.com/koreader/koreader/pull/909.

With OPDS now in addition to the file handling features of the File Manager, isn't it time we had the external uSD card remounted to read/write? It would be nice to download to a folder onto the external drive.

Luck;
Ken

One thing I really don't like are the sdr folders that are created for every book.
In my opinion the history folder is enough.
I know that that way it should be easy to remove the card and use it in another device, but since you are still missing the history folder that still sounds useless to me.

And the read-only of the SD card is the only thing that prevents this happening right now.

Of course it's not really a good idea to avoid something just because a solution for something else is not the best...

For me it would be a good solution to have a second history folder on the SD card and no sdr folders, and with that solutiuon I would not mind the SD card being writable for OPDS books (or other things).

Until then I can live with books being downloaded to the main memory, especially since for me they need to be put to the device by Calibre because of the search functionality...

Nope, there is a copy of document history file(the lua file) in each sidecar directory. All reading progress and document specific settings are preserved if you copy a document with its sidecar to another Koreader device.

I know, but if you copy the SD card to another reader you still won't see this document in your history. You at least have to search for it again.
I have not checked if the logic gets the data first from sidecar and then from history.
Maybe I just have to see sidecar in action, and on Kobo it simply does not work right now when you use an SD card (and without SD card the advantage is completely gone).

It's totally tolerable to have different behavior in different platforms. And you know what, the sidecars won't make the documents directory messier in Kindle devices since the Kindle native reader already allocates a sidecar for each Amazon document in which book cover(?) and reading progress are stored.

With 732 the external SD is read/write, I used OPDS to download ebooks, from a couple of the sites, into a folder on my external uSD card. I also was able to delete files in the File Manager, by long press selection, something I can't do while the card is mounted read-only. Most functions are quick again, even for my very large epubs.

Luck;
Ken
