I do like my PW2 a lot but I probably would switch back. I love how light and thin the K4B is and how the text appears to be sitting right next to the surface rather than buried beneath glass.
Amazon knows that the real money comes from the kindle books. A cheap, innovative, device lines up with most of their recent releases in the past couple years.
My hope? Based on the rumors at goodereader, supposedly from a Amazon insider, of amazon using a flexible display that will be up to 50% lighter than current ereaders, I'm hoping that we get an incredibly light basic kindle with 212ppi, with improved contrast from the last model at $69. I would imagine it would be hard to implement the lighted screen in a flexible display so I don't think the PW would be upgraded to that. I would buy in a heartbeat.
That would be awesome.

But completely unrealistic.

One of the many problems with believing rumors on goodereader.

This device is more than people need, and sure as heck ain't gonna go for $69. Or any reasonable price for a ""basic" model (which is supposed to be keeping prices down as much as possible).

Out of curiosity, since so many people have mentioned it, what is the advantage of a flexible display? Just that it has less chance of breaking? I find it hard to imagine that such technology would be compatible with e-ink, but I don't really know anything (about anything).

Actually, if memory serves me correctly, last year there wasn't even an announcement. There was suddenly just a new KPW2 available to buy on the website. So there's still lots of time for Amazon to do another stealth release.

Eink itself is a thin sheet of flexible plastic. It is the electronics behind that thin flexible sheet of plastic that sit on a sheet of glass. Glass is heavy and has a tendency to shatter or break easily. So benefits of a flexible screen would be weight reduction and shatter proofing the screen. I doubt many will need a truly flexible device - it is not impossible to make a complete device that is like a hard rubber.

Look up device called Wexler Flex One - from Russian OEM supplier. It is [slightly] flexible.

Only 2gb storage, again? I hope that is a mistake. Disregard that. Those specs at the bottom are for the current PW.

I'd probably buy one.....but really hoping for 4gb. Not that I would fill it up. Just like it better.

Yeah, I want one. Just hope I can embed my font and load it that way.

$190??? Are they crazy? Instead of getting cheaper, let's make it more expensive. No thanks.

Yeah, they're dipping into tablet territory...

$190 for the wifi version, by the way.

$250 with 3G.

If these leaks turn out to be true, i think there will be no serious reason for me to return the paperwhite i ordered last week (which im waiting to arrive the next couple of days) and get the "voyage".
