It does make the code base slightly smaller, as well as saves one entire BIT in both memory and storage, not to make it optional.

This app was for ithings first. I wonder if that's why they have no options. Is it common for ithing apps to have no options? It seems like a we're Apple, we know better than you thing.

I assume the feature they won't remove is the hyphens and even if I could make the font larger, I tried, it doesn't make the margins smaller. I can't read with smaller font anyway, so that is a moot point. This is as small as I can go.

Since this is a paid subscription and the app is listed as an account on the Nexus, is it possible that at some point the older app wont work anymore with their account stuff and whatever they are using to protect the books from piracy? I sure hope not. I have to hold on to 3.6.2 and hope that they will fix this in the future. Us few can't be the only ones having issues here.

Wonder if the apple app is also messed up like this. I don't have a ithingy so I can't check.

They actually said shrink the font size. They really are clueless if that would work. Besides, what about those that can't read small fonts?

I know right. The best you can do is leave a negative review on the Play store. That's the feedback the developer's actually read.

I did for the original app because of lack of options. I think they replied that they would pass the comment on to the developers. Apparently enough people like it so why bother to change.

Well then you can always vote with your wallet if it comes down to being force to use the new app. Letting them know why you wont be staying a member can have effect better than just feedback.

I canceled my sub yesterday. I just can't read comfortably for long stretches using their app.

I never bought even the free subscription because the app was so lacking. But silly me, I keep hoping it will improve.

I'm having problems with the update on my Apple devices. My iPad 2 and iPad mini both updated and now I can't open any Scribd books on the iPad, and only some on the mini. I've contacted support and I'm not updating the app on the iPhone until this is resolved.

Hmm...maybe I'll have to remove and re-download the books onto my device. I tried that with one and I was able to open it. So far the others that I had downloaded prior to the update are not opening. Bit of a nuisance.

Another month like this and I'll have to cancel. It's not worth it if I don't read anything.

I looked at it on the iPad mini and it is a little annoying but not as bad as the Nexus screenshots--that's probably because the iPad mini is a wider device. But why are there sizable margins? We don't need margins; that's what the sides of the tablet are for.

I'd set my iPad to download updates automatically but now I'm thinking that may have been the wrong decision. I don't do it on my phone, though, because it drains the battery more (my iPad battery life is much better).

I haven't used mine either, but I was reading on my laptop and was having trouble reading without it bothering my eyes so I just stopped even looking there for books. There are a couple of books I've run across recently that are expensive. Might be worth checking even if I'll hate reading on the laptop.

Over at teleread.com you can sign up for Scribd 2 months free. I was able to use the code even though I am a previous member. I'll be trying it on my Fire 6 next month!

Thanks’ for the information, last week I browsed the new books in scribd and saw several that were on my to buy list and I started thinking maybe I should register again for some time so I could read them, now with this offer I know I will register again for sure.
I’m starting to think I should upgrade my tablet, maybe this is my excuse to do that, have to think about it some more.

I don't know why, but I went ahead and re-upped for the two months even though I basically never used it during my original 3 month+ trial.

I just discovered something interesting, when I tried it before I downloaded the books to the tablet, because I turn off the wifi when I don’t need it to save battery. Since I unsubscribed I didn’t open the app again in the tablet, today I went to open it and to my surprise all the books that I had downloaded before are still there, one of them I didn’t even read at that time because I didn’t had time before the trial period was over, so I started that now. I suppose that when I connect the app with the wifi on they will be deleted, I’ll report what happened after I finish this book.
