The margins have always been wide and that's one of my problems.

This is an example of the best reason for rooting. An update is made that ruins your experience so you just restore your prior backup. I backup weekly and keep ten versions.

The margins are wider now. I was in the middle of reading a book, updated the app and now they are way wider.

I don't know nothing about rooting or what that even is. I just want to tap an app and use it. I have no clue about any of that stuff and not going to mess and ruin my device. Just don't understand why they had to make the margins so wide now. This is really upsetting to me as I loved reading on this app before, not I can barely read my book I was reading.

I am in the middle of reading a book and the margins are so distracting. I am so sad now. It was nice to read with before. I compared the margins with the kindle app and its not almost as wide as its narrow setting. Closer to the narrow than the normal setting. This is awful.

So sorry to hear it's so messed up. makes me feel bad for even posting the update news.

if you backed up the app before you updated you could just re-install the backup or if someone here has a backup of the apk for the version you liked.

You don't even need to root in order to do this, just need a really good file manager app on your device

I have no clue about backing up on my tablet. Its my first android tablet after my fire and I don't know that kind of stuff. Too late anyway as I already hit the update. Not your fault, I should not have been so eager. Now I am paying for it.

I send off an email to Scribd about it, but I doubt its going to make a difference and meanwhile I have now difficulty reading on the app. And the book was just getting good and I can't even concentrate on reading.

Well...hopefully they'll fix it or someone can send you the apk for the older version....

For future reference or other users. I was talking about being able to backup an app before installing an update. I use the ES File explorer (device does not have to be rooted) to do this. It only backsup app not app data. This YouTube video tells you about using ES File explorer, but it prepped to start where they talk about file management [7m1s]. Other File Managers can do this as well. Hope it helps someone, just in case.

I tried googling for a apk on the 3.6.2, but I have no clue what sites are trustworthy and one I found they put their name in the file name, so I have no clue what that means or does to my device. I also don't know what getting an apk from elsewhere does to the app itself and how it works with future updates and such. But I do know how to install apk's, I mean I just have to click on them through my dropbox folder and there they are. No clue how any of that works.

Yea I tried looking for one too...it is fairly easy to find one, usually. Maybe scribd hasn't been in that much demand to have the apk store on the trustworthy sites i was looking at.

Scribd responded to my initial email and they want a screenshot. They seem to think I am talking about a bug. I don't think its a bug, its designed that way. I have no clue how to take screenshots though, I told them it might be a while until I figure that out.
So I told them the measurements. The text is now 7 cm wide, or 2 and 3/4 inches.
I also asked in my response if they would mind a friend giving me the apk to the old version.

Their customer service is really top notch. They were that fast also when I had issues with my kindle scribd app on the past. They always followed up.
I think that is why I didn't think twice just downloading the new app update.

It easy to do a screenshot just hold the volume button and power button at the exact same time down til you hear a shutter noise. You can find the screenshot in your Gallery.

Thanks, google to the rescue. Got that send off. But looking at the screenshot, it doesn't look as much space on each side than it does on the device itself, it looks narrower. That is why I gave them the measurements too.
I'll add it here to show what I mean.

Funny thing is I had to retake the screenshot as I realized it had a um, steamy part on it.

It does actually. That is super wide margins. I wont upgrade but I do have the backup of the last three versions in case.

on the steamy part. I've done it here MR and had to change it out fast.
Oh I know that book! I read it years ago I like it if I remember right. I read all 3 of them one after another. Yes there is some steamy scenes in them nothing like today's stuff but it might cause someone to blush.
