Wow, that's a lot of reading! I'm keen on Mr. Mercedes too but just waiting for prices to drop a little. I have not heard of some of the books you posted yet and will be checking them out! Thanks for sharing!

What have you been reading while waiting for Peace Talks (The Dresden Files #16) to be released?

My full list is here, but I just finished The Witch with No Name. *sigh* My forehead hurts from smacking it repeatedly. This was one of my favourite series but the last few books have been less than stellar.

One series that I still really enjoy is October Daye by Seanan McGuire. The latest book The Winter Long was just released and was quite good. There is a strong series plot in this series, which I highly appreciate in Urban Fantasy.

Of course, I read Skin Game (The Dresden Files #15) - actually I've read it twice and listened to the audio once, so far!

In addition, I've read:

Artful by Peter David
Killing Orders (V.I. Warshawski #3) by Sara Paretsky
The Silkworm (Cormoran Strike #2) by Robert Galbraith (J.K.Rowling)
The End is Nigh (The Apocalypse Triptych #1) by John Joseph Adams
Inamorata by Megan Chance
Four Harry Potter + Dresden Files Crossover Fan Fiction short stories, Harry Potter and the Daughter of Winter, This Could Get Lonely, Harry Potter and the Wizard of the White council and Harry Potter and the Winter Court
Second Suicide: A Short Story by Hugh Howey
The Tall Dolores (Ed Noon #1) by Michael Avallone
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (Sisterhood #1) by Ann Brashares
The Paper Magician (The Paper Magician Series) by Charlie N. Holmberg
The Golden Man (novelette) by Phillip K. Dick
The Spitting Image (Ed Noon #2) by Michael Avallone
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
Mr. Mercedes (Unnamed Trilogy #1) by Stephen King
Raisins And Almonds (Phryne Fisher #9) by Kerry Greenwood
The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line (Veronica Mars #1) by Rob Thomas & Jennifer Graham
Dead Game (Ed Noon #3) by Michael Avallone
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
The Witch with No Name (The Hollows #13) by Kim Harrison

Currently I'm half way through Tunnel Vision by Aric Davis

What have you been reading while waiting for Peace Talks (The Dresden Files #16) to be released?

I've done "Skin Game" twice as well, and loved it even more the second time. I'll pick up the audio book a little down the road so I can get back into Marster's narration, which I ADORE!

Other than that, I've not done a heck of a lot of pleasure reading. I'm doing a ton of supplemental reading for my two Coursera courses that I'm taking online right now:

Dino 101: Dinosaur Paleobiology https://www.coursera.org/#course/dino101 and

Understanding Video Games https://www.coursera.org/#course/uvg

Having a BLAST doing them.

As far as pleasure reading, I absolutely loved, loved LOVED, "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline, and I'm gonna reread it pretty soon.

I also did my yearly reread of David Eddings "The Belgariad & Mallorean" series.

Also about a billion out loud readings of "Fun on the Farm", "My First Words", "M is for Maple: A Canadian Alphabet" and "Star Wars ABC's". Man, it's tough to think of Star Wars words on the fly to replace all the prequel nonsense in those books. "G is for General Grevious. General Grevious has Glowing lightsabers". Nope, I don't think so. How bout "G is for Greedo. Sorry about the mess."

The baby's first giggle line has me thinking of an evil wizard with a stockpile of infants held in magical stasis. To fuel his power he has to pop one out and make it laugh.

There he is, in the midst of a massive battle, playing peekaboo with an infant.

"My Lord! Our west flank is being overrun! We need a maelstrom blast to repel the enemy!"

"I'm working on it! I'm working on it! You! Make this brat laugh!"

The evil wizard's big problem is each infant is good for only one shot, and determining if they've had their first real giggle.

There's a significant amount of "misfires" so it may take several to get a good one.

What does the evil wizard do with the "spent" infants? Probably has them raised to be minions, or dragon food. Could be that the process of extracting the giggle magic power also drains their soul.

An army of soulless minions who can't walk (let alone use weapons) and poop their pants isn't very useful.

Dunno, he never says and those who inquire generally aren't heard from again.

Picked up another Jim Butcher hardbound book "Changes" at my favorite book store: "The Dollar Tree."

You know the price!

I will give the book for Christmas or back to a Thrift Store before the year is out
