I'd agree with BearMountainBooks that I doubt it. Unless it really tanks (which would shock me) or something massive happens in the market they'll want to get as much of their investment back as they can in the holiday buying season. It's possible that a retailer somewhere may discount it, but I wouldn't count on a Kobo discount.

That is a quite a step up from the HD. Making me happy I did pre-order. The PW comparison was hard to pull anything from because the content on the screen was so different (and too much black, not enough text).
I will say that my HD doesn't have as much shadowing at the bottom as theirs, but that could be due to their having the light at 100% most of the time

I agree with both of you, Robko and Barty...
Someone said in this thread - or maybe another one about the new kobo- that he/she only watched their reviews with the sound turned off and that made me chuckle because I do the exact same thing when I watch those guys.

This one however was good enough to actually post it here for comparison reasons imho. The pint is half full?

I was suprised how much the color of the pw2 matched the aura hd and how much better the h2o looks!

H2O, not H20

It may have been easier if they had named the device correctly, with a subscript 2.

So here we go. Let's compare the reading experience, because these are e-readers, so that's where they shine; but to make the comparison more interesting, let's read two different books and let's fiddle around with them until we manage to get the same font, because our viewers want some action, but let's leave the size a bit different and let the one reader have justified text and the other left-aligned. We need to leave a little bit to the imagination, don't we? And then let's do a maximum font size test where the two readers end up with different maximum font sizes and let's not worry that this probably happens because we compare different books with different font-size settings in their CSS. Or not? Well, who cares?

I don't think anyone there actually uses the ereaders outside of reviews. For the Aura/H2O video (if you left the sound on) they marvel at "new" features of the H2O that firmware updates brought to my Glo a year and a half ago. They're tech guys, not readers.

In the new video, the two screens look about the same. No real difference. Hmm.

To me, the Aura H2O seemed to have a slightly whiter white. But then there is that nasty reflection off the edge of the bezel which makes me wonder about the lighting.

It would have been nice if they had used the same version of the same book so the font size, margin comparisons, etc. would have an equal starting point.

I did find it amusing that he went to the second page of the settings by bringing up the keyboard rather than swiping.

Otherwise, given that the Aura H2O and Aura HD seem to have the same CPU, etc., I wouldn't expect to see many performance differences between them.

Regards,
David

That's what I thought, too, but their lighting wasn't very good. I'm waiting for Nate's review.
