What's the source of you epubs and are they getting put through Calibre/converted possibly to kepub? Check the file type under the title in the library. I tried several Gutenberg epubs I sideloaded on my Aura HD and it takes me to the end to the footnotes rather than pulling up a preview.

EDIT: I read above that 3.8 works on mini, so why should one install 3.4.1 instead? Last edited by gong; 09-05-2014 at 08:44 PM. | |

3.4.1 works well on my Mini and will not install 3.5.0 because activating front light will drain battery faster. |

I suspect he was referring to my co-worker who had read (or thought she read) that firmware 3.8.0 would enable the front light on a Mini with the left edge brightness control. I did manage to keep a straight face while explaining the Mini did not have the front light hardware so no software update would enable the frontlight. Well do I need to uninstall kbmenu, koreader, kobolauncher and nightmode before upgrading fw? If so isn't it simpler to factory reset the device? Thanks |

There is no need to uninstall these applications. In kbmenu select "handle updates > install partial update." (I am assuming you have a rather recent version of kbmenu!)

Yes, I just installed KBStartMenu_04. So it makes it possible to upgrade to fw 3.4.1 without losing any add-on, that's great! By the way, do I need to put all 3 files found in the zip ("upgrade" folder, KoboRoot.tgz and manifest.md5sum) into .kobo? Or only the .tgz? EDIT: I copied all 3 files, update went fine. Otherwise, I read that png's wont work anymore in nickel for launcing koreader etc. but on my mini they are still working, only nightmode won't when nickel is launched directly after reboot (alternate). EDIT: that was true on fw 2.6.2, now on 3.4.1 png's don't work anymore. So 3.4.1 has nice improvements but I don't like the fact one can't force refresh anymore: on 2.6.2 with one press bottom and then middle screen device refreshed.
