Kobo Discounts: Coupon Codes + Discussion

Of course it is messed up. Always has been, but it's getting worse. I don't get why they can't implement a proper advanced search, where you can look for author, publisher, ISBN, etc. But that would be just too good, I guess.

What's worse is that they seem to have the infrastructure for such a search already built. (Click on a series name, a publisher, or an author - then look at the URL that comes up.) All they lack is the interface to let people USE it.

Oh, and I search by ISBN all the time. Works like a charm.

Searching Kobo from Google often works better than their own site. The site's search has had problems since before the Kobo name existed, when they were called Shortcovers.

The coupon codes are still working, if anyone is still interested (and still has room on their credit card).

I'm interested. There's a book I want to buy but all of the previous coupon codes were used up and I can't get perkopolis to work. This is in the Canadian store, in case it's relevant.

You tried those from the master list that were posted? They should still work once for everyone--if you haven't use them, the should work. There's also SAV50 to try.

I'm probably the last one to discover this but it turns out that Kobo has some books from Amazon Publishing and they're discount eligible.

Kobo had a book I was looking for and when I checked the publisher, I was surprised that it was Amazon. I thought "there's no way this is eligible", but tried anyway and was surprised that it was.

I'm not sure about any of the many Amazon imprints. I tried looking for some 47North titles, but didn't find them. Anyway, it may be worth checking with Kobo, especially if you have unused contest codes.

Heretofore when I have run across, on Amazon.com, an Amazon published book that I want, I have assumed that Kobo wouldn't have it. So, I never checked Kobo. Now I won't assume that, and will check--maybe I can score a better deal occasionally.

Is this the Kobo search engine thread or the Kobo discount code thread? It's sometimes easy to forget. This thread gets hijacked WAY too often lately by side topics, especially discussions of this or that book series. I know, sneering jibes about to be sent my way: "just turn off your e-mail notifications"; but I won't. I just miss the old days when this thread mostly stayed on topic.

And to stay on topic, I am alarmed to find that the Hong Kong store (the only one I use, being in HK and using a HK$ credit card) now has the new look, and many codes don't work. Sadly, none of the recent contest codes work. Between the sadly unusable codes and the fact that this thread is only around 60% on topic in the past few months, I guess I'll be coming here less often.

I suppose that I'll get some sneering jibes, too. But, I don't care.

I agree with Billingsgate about how bothersome the off-topic discussions are. I often come to this thread looking to see if any new Kobo discount codes have been posted. Invariably I have to wade through discussions about all kinds of other things to try to find them.

Now, to say something positive and hopefully constructive . . . . would it be possible to have a separate thread for non-discount-code Kobo discussions? Would anyone be opposed to it?
