I need noise and people, preferably large crowds where I can mingle. And I'm married to The Social Butterfly, which is what I call Tim. We do well at parties.

He went to the country to visit his dad yesterday, and I stayed home with the plan to read. The house was quiet. I faded, like in the definition. Slept almost the entire time he was gone! That definition is true as far as being energized by talking to people. Right now, I'm fighting back the urge to cross the cubicle and ask what that lovely crumply snack cake wrapper sound is, and may I have half, and would you come with me to the vending machine and I'll one and buy you another?

Tim and I are wide open, all the time. There was this one cruise where we participated in as many activities as possible, of course, because why wouldn't everyone want to play? Bingo, trivia, pass the orange, all those things. We didn't just play, we were team captains! Came home with lots of cruise line promotional prizes! Tim won the beer drinking contest - players had to eat 2 saltine crackers, drink a beer, and then balance the empty bottle on their heads. He did all that and stood there several minutes waiting for the next person to finish - So cute with that bottle on his head! I wonder if I have any of those photos online?

No pretensions of world domination are necessary. We have a LOT of apples from my father-in-law's yard, so apple goods are on offer to anyone who cares to visit. Of course, even though they were perfectly good apples already, once the Muffin Man is done with them, they are extra yummy.

You wanna "freecycle" that TV to me? A woman in the Chicago group just gave away an LG 37" HGTV, a Dell XPS computer, Nintendo WII, and some new furniture, because she's getting married and the guy has all his own stuff, and wanted hers out of the house so he could move in tonight.

I missed out on all of it. It would have been poetic, the divorced guy getting a WOMAN's stuff, because she's getting MARRIED.

Wacom went home with the plumber. His wife likes to draw. But, really, I'll start posting items I'm preparing to give away (actually, I was just going to drop this stuff off at the dump ... even though it is still fully functional, and some of it brand new). If people are willing to pay shipping, then it works for me.

I'll keep in mind what you ladies are looking for as I go through all this stuff. I don't *think* I have any more Wacom tablets ... just the two that I actually use, but you never ever know with me. I am forever moving a box and finding something under it I bought eight of and never used.

I also had an Adesso tablet, but I gave that away to the Moons' daughter. However, I don't think that worked half as well as a Wacom.

you have to act fast if you want to get stuff on freecycle. luckily i'm usually giving stuff away, which is much less pressure. i've never given away anything that good though. nor gotten anything that good. i did get 2 nice chairs that just need to be reupholstered.

Hey Nekokami!!

Zeep and I were just thinking, that maybe you could take the RAZR phones, and sell them or raffle them off or something, and use the money for the high school.

It's just a thought ... let me know if you are interested. It's possible that these phones might not work in Europe ... but there might be some value in them here.

Yeah .... my mother was an intense extrovert. She filled up a room when she walked in. She got energy from everyone around her. And, she talked, whistled, sang, all day long.

Then there was me and my step-father. He and I would just sit next to each other and read, or watch TV, and someone would *sometimes, but rarely* make a comment. But mostly, we just felt very comfy sitting there together just being two silent lumps on the couch, while my mom whirled around the house talking.

My sister is the same as my mom. I can only be around her for about 10 days max before I pretty much want to kill her just to have some peace and quiet. I like quiet. Being alone is such a nice way to be.

I looked at Freecycle just now, but couldn't figure it out. Does it let you "view" without joining?

I need someone to just come in and unclutter my house. A stranger with no emotional attachment to Granny's china from the 1930's, or my mother's antique china cabinet that Granny's dishes stay in, and so on. Half of what we own is an heirloom of one sort of another. But the line between precious keepsake and clutter is getting awfully blurry.

Introverts are quiet, but not any more submissive than anyone else. I know a few who have spent years thinking out their principles and now would stick to them through anything. One of them is very active in politics. The other is a teacher with no small-talk, and who is very shy, but can give a real performance in the classroom.

I suspect that Ricky will now get a lot of forum members offering to drop by and tidy up her basement for her, in hopes of finding hidden electronic treasure.

Do nature sounds disturb you? If not, I recommend a few days on the Big Island, Hawaii, at the tidal pool at National Research Laboratories. Waves and few (to no) people. Beautiful at sunset with high surf pounding...

That sounds yummy!! Actually, I don't on the whole *mind* noise, I just don't need it. I hum under my breath almost all day. And I sing sweet nonsense rhymes to my dogs while I walk them - to whatever tune I happen to be humming at the time.

Talk, however, is different. That holds my attention and lets me get nothing else done.

The group I joined uses Yahoo Groups, which are moderated and require you to respond to a verification email before you can see anything. Basically, it functions as an email list. You post something you're offering, or you want, to the group, and people email you back saying they want it, or have it. You pick to whom you want to give your offer. Based on first come, first served, or whatever other criteria you chose. I gave my DSL modem to the person who sounded like they knew exactly what it was, and would have no problems re-registering it, etc.

Now, here's what you do, DixieGal. You call up a local estate appraiser/auction house. They will come and take all of that stuff off your hands, sell it at auction and split the money with you 60/40 (you get the sixty ... they keep the 40).

Oh, for certain .... no one would EVER call me "submissive." Introverted, yes ... extremely, but submissive?? Not ... on ... your .... life!

Oh man .... the basement (which isn't really a "basement" ... but I like the sound of that), has furniture, electronics ... just masses of stuff. Some day ... I keep telling myself, I will get the stuff organized, and turn the carriage house into a studio and additional guest room ... like I ever have much in the way of guests.

But, it would be nice to have the brass bed set up in there for overflow when we have refugees up from Houston or Galveston or New Orleans. Somewhere that people can just set their heads down in relative comfort and safety while their homes are blowing or washing away.

Right now, it is jammed with "stuff" .... some stuff I would like to use someday (like all of my quilting fat quarters ... arranged by spectral quality), or display (like all of my Disney pins, and original Disney studio drawings -- my Aunt Comfort was one of the Disney artists in the 1930s ... she worked on Snow White), or my HO trains and models (I worked really hard on those models ... and it would be so nice to actually get to set them up and RUN the trains ... which I can't do in the house because the cats would utterly destroy them).

Really? I like the sound of that. I've got old 78 RPM records from my dad's youth when he sang on the radio stored in the bottoms of drawers, quilts, souvenirs brought back from "occupied Japan," just loads and load of precious memories that need to be dusted. I yearn for clear, clean surfaces.

The problem is, the old stuff is the best stuff. STOP! Must not let emotions interfere with process of decluttering.
