The 2nd Doctor was equally old and unpleasant, but he introduced the most important plotlines, Cybermen and Daleks.

I guess it's just me, but I never liked him. He would have "bouts of madness" in which he would be very cruel to his companions. I think he offered them up for sacrifice in exchange for his freedom down in the Cyberman city. I need to re-watch the videos that survive. But that would mean hooking up the VCR, and who has time for that?

Back on topic: I wish my VCR would magically hook itself up to the DVD recorder so I could finally copy those Dr Who's to DVD.

Granted : Your VCR has now hooked up with your DVD player - they have both eloped to Las Vegas and have arranged for a Blu-Ray player to turn up at your doorstep in 5 years time - together with a set of Dr Who discs for region 2 play only....

I wish life was more simple ...

Granted. We have run out of fossil fuels of all sorts, and life has reverted to the very simple -- no TV, no CD, no DVD. You sit in front of your roaring fire and roast marshmallows, as that is now the only entertainment left in the world.

I wish I cared enough to convert my remaining vinyls albums to CD. I keep meaning to do it.....

Here are my picks to build up my Doctor Who collection (all I have currently is the first three seasons of "new" Doctor Who):

The Beginning Collection - First Doctor Who eps! (Hartnell) First Daleks!
The Dalek Invasion of Earth - More Daleks!
The Tenth Planet (1975) - First Cybermen! Last Hartnell! (But way too expensive as OOP VHS.)
The Tomb of the Cybermen - Early cybermen ep - Troughton

Spearhead from Space - First Pertwee ep, first (?) UNIT ep
The Claws of Axos (Episode 57) - Early face-off against The Master
The Green Death (Episode 69) - Doctor Who plus hippie environmentalists
The Time Warrior (Episode 70) - First Sarah Jane episode!

Robot (Episode 75) - First Tom Baker episode
Genesis of the Daleks (Episode 78) - Greek tragedy "seeds of own destruction" stuff
The Hand of Fear (Episode 87) - Last Sarah Jane Ep.
The Deadly Assassin - Solo Doctor ep, history on Gallifrey (VHS only)
The Invasion of Time (Episode 97) - What if the Doctor was EVIL? And took over Gallifrey? (VHS)
The Key to Time Collection - One of my favorite stories
City of Death (Episode 105) - Co-written by Douglas Adams - very funny story
New Beginnings (The Keeper of Traken / Logopolis / Castrovalva) - Transition from Tom Baker to Peter Davidson

Earthshock (Episode 122) - Peter Davidson vs. the Cybermen
Resurrection of the Daleks (Episode 134) - Peter Davidson vs. the Daleks

Beneath The Surface (Doctor Who And The Silurians / The Sea Devils / Warriors Of The Deep) - Pertwee (twice) and later Davidson face the same aliens three different times - and are unable to negotiate peace.

Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth Series - Obviously!!!

Any other suggestions? Does anyone remember when The Master first shows up?

It wasn't a niece, but a grand-daughter. (I can remember seeing the very first episode on a Saturday night in the early 60s. I was barely as tall as the sofa I was hiding behind.)

This has been picked up by the writers of the last series, who had the doctor saying that he was a "dad", then producing a daughter for him.

Oh right, granddaughter. We watched them all in order on PBS in the 80's-90's, but that was a long time ago to remember. When they came out at Amazon on VHS, we started buying those, and almost immediately, they became obsolete.

I'm very tired today.

Granted. Now all your pops, clicks, jumps, and static can be heard with amazing CD quality after you invested $300 in a new turntable, $125 in a new stylus, $95 in a preamp with the RIAA equalization curve, $50 in special audio quality interconnect cables, $167 in advanced audio capture/edit software, and $198 in a new audiophile sound card.

I wish all of my technology investments turned out as well as badgoodDeb's Lp to CD conversion did above.

Granted - you have now stopped giving out Karma except for donut donations and the script is now finished but was eaten by a llama.

Granted. Unfortunately a completely different type decides it wants you, and won't leave you alone.

btw Peter Davidson played a mean Tristan Farnon, and he was excellent in "A Very Peculiar Practice" ..

sorry, :backontopic : ...

Granted : instead it's a cover of squashed newts.

I wish spam would stop cluttering up my inbox with offers that I do not need (so I'm told)
